Games Workshop is back with another look at Lore from Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition – Back to the Damocles Gulf!

For those of you who have been keeping up with War Zone: Damocles Gulf you’ll no doubt remember what’s going on. In summary:

  • A Space Marine Chapter Master died
  • Key Etherael Personnel were assassinated
  • The entire Damocles Gulf was basically set on fire by the Imperium

Purging with Fire – Not just for Witches, Xenos, and Heretics. Now approved for System-wide Purging!

That should be the end of War Zone: Damocles. However, a funny little thing happened on the other side of the Galaxy. I’ll let Games Workshop explain this one:

via Warhammer-Community

“The Cicatrix Maledictum, the great warp rift that split the galaxy in half, snuffed out the multi-system-spanning firestorm – the war for the Damocles Gulf is back on! With the Imperial defenders pressed hard on every front from Chaos incursions, reemergent Necron dynasties, and ravenous Tyranid hive fleets, the T’au were quick to react to the new opportunity. They launched their Fifth Sphere Expansion to fight back against these terrors of the galaxy, seeking out new worlds and claiming more territory for the Greater Good.”

That’s right, the Warpscar put the fires out – the Gulf is no longer in flames which means the battle is back on. And for those of you asking, “Hey, what’s up with this Fifth Sphere stuff? What happened to the Fourth Sphere?

“The Fourth Sphere Expansion fleet set off almost immediately once the fires in the Gulf had subsided, but with the Great Rift  still raging through that region of space, all contact with them was soon lost.”

Now GW is being cagey about what actually happened to the Tau forces. Hey, a giant Warpscar just tore through the sector and they were a little too gung-ho about it. GW had some theories of what could have happened, but me personally, I think they all turned to Chaos. I’m calling it now – new faction: Chaos Tau!

They are going to be like Tau, but with more spikes! Or maybe evil facial hair…

I’m not sayin’…I’m just sayin’…Vote Chaos Tau: Xenos 2018!
