War is about to Dawn on an operating system near you.

It is an objective fact that the PC is the best platform for playing video games. And soon, no matter your operating system, you’ll be able to play Dawn of War III thanks to the efforts of Relic Entertainment and Feral Interactive.

If you have somehow never played a Dawn of War game before–they are a fast-paced RTS that is a descendant of the old Company of Heroes games that take a nontraditional approach to resource gathering/control and base construction. And Dawn of War III really brings out the detail and the life and vibrant character (and humor) of the 40K world. Whether it’s taking an elite unit and stomping (sometimes literally) on your enemy, or gathering up a mob of boyz, a cadre of marines, or a smug of aspect warriors and wrecking face, it’s a ton of fun.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with the team at Feral Interactive to bring Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III to Mac and Linux platforms! Feral helped out with the Mac and Linux ports of Dawn of War II and Company of Heroes 2, and we couldn’t be happier for them to help bring Dawn of War III to a brand new audience.

Dawn of War III will launch on Mac and Linux in just a few short weeks, on June 8th, 2017. Now all players will be able to do battle as the Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks in an epic campaign, and spectacular multiplayer matches against players around the world.

All content from the Windows version is in the Mac & Linux versions

And if you head over to their FAQ you can learn a little more about the upcoming release, like the fact that they’re offering cross-platform multiplayer, even though it will only be for Mac.Linux at the outset. It sounds like they’re hoping to figure out cross-OS play for all three in the future. Or that if you have the Steam version of the game, you’ll get access to the other versions as soon as it’s available on June 8th.

Hmm. Orks, Eldar, Space Marines… Mac, Linux, Windows. Yup, story checks out.
