Geekery: The First ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer

This is movie is going to be gorgeous – and it has the talent to back it up.

When the project was first announced I was worried about whose hands it would land in, if it would be given the care it needed to live up (even just a little) to the orginal. I’m not worried anymore.

Scott is acting as producer on this one, turning the reigns over to Arrival and Sicario director Denis Villeneuve (who also landed the Dune remake). The cast is chock full of great names beyond the headliners – Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and Edward James Olmos is returning as Gaff. A few other things to note:

• Hampton Fancher wrote the story and the screenplay – he wrote the screenplay for the original
• Roger Deakins shot it – he’s one of the great masters of cinematography
• Jóhann Jóhannsson crafted the soundtrack based on Vangelis’ work
