Geekery: ‘Valerian’ is Going to be a Spectacle

The movie’s final trailer has beautiful visuals, action, intrigue –  and no spoilers.

For those unfamiliar: the movie is based on the French comics series Valérian and Laureline by Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, which was first released in the late 1960s. The story features a duo interstellar agents – Valerian and Laureline – that are tasked with keeping the peace in the giant city of Alpha. The city is home to 17 million humans and aliens from all over the galaxy. In the course of thier duties they discover that someone is out to destroy the peace that has been built in the giant metropolis.

Director Luc Besson has been trying for years to get the story up on the big screen, and he’s definitely put his personal touch on the project. Take a look…

Cast includes: Cara DelevingneDane DeHaan, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Rihanna, Clive Owen, and Rutger Hauer.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets hits theaters on July 21st.

I thought the music sounded familiar. It is from Gangsters Paradise.

    • Deacon Ix

      Amish paradise?

Yipee! Available in 2D! I like the design, I just hope that the plot and characterisation are more along the lines of Leon and not Lucy.

Haha right with you. I would have left out the connection with Lucy altogether if I were them. The Fifth Element will always have a special place in my heart and Leon was just exquisite.
