Khador: GreyLord Forge Seer Keeps em Moving

Khador’s new Man-O-War casts spells, can jack marshal and has some nasty Warjacks to pair with it.

What is it?

This is a new Khador Man-O-War solo the Grey Lord Forge Seer.  If you like jack marshals and big slow moving armored dudes then this guy is the mecha wizard for you.  The Forge Seer costs 4 points and is FA:2.  This is a great jack marshal and arguably could be the best jack marshal in the game.

What does the Forge Seer Do?

The Forge Seer is your traditional Man-O-War with SPD4 DEF10 ARM16 and 8 boxes.  He is armed with a Magic POW14 RNG2 melee weapon that can crit stationary.

Special Rules:

  • Immune to Cold: Woohoo
  • Jack Marshal: He knows how to command jacks!
  • Battle Wizard: He can cleave a guy in two and cast a spell. He is only MAT6 though so can be risky.
  • Drive: Dark Sigils– This gives blessed and magic weapons to the jack he is marshaling.  This means annoying things like arcane shield or menoth choir hymns are pretty much useless vs the jack he controls.
  • Empower: This is what makes your faction able to jack marshal or not jack marshal.  Retribution still has the best jack for marshaling in the Hydra. However, if you want some creating combos you need this ability in your faction to get real worth out of jack marshals.
  • Hoarfrost: RNG8 POW14 nuke.
  • Winters Wind: Stationary to models that stray to close and Immunity to cold to a friendly.
  • Repairable:  Mechanics keep him alive!

What’s a Good List to Run a Forge Seer in?

Well if you are going the jack marshalling route then you want 2 forge seers.  You need both Empower’s to really get a jack going if it’s jackmarshaled.  The 2nd thing you need is the right jack!  Now it is an extremly risky investment, but putting Behemoth on a Forge Seer can reap massive rewards.  Take Aim or True Strike are very useful when combined with Behemoth’s powerful shot ability.  Throw in magic and blessed and even a stormwall is going to be annoyed by Behemoth shooting at it.  So what caster do you put with this nasty jack marshal?  Butcher1’s feat can really up the damage with his feat. Sorcha1 can freeze and boundless charge the jack for easy killing.  Vlad2 can get rid of annoying clouds and let the jack marshal jack charge for free with Assail or drop the lowest dice with Hand of Fate.  Vlad1 is always a good choice but, he does lose out not having Behemoth in his battlegroup for the extreme speed.

Khador Army – 74 / 75 points

Now THOSE are a pair of shoulder pads that command respect!

*looks at Vassal of Menoth for 3pts*

I took mine back, I couldn’t stand how the resin has these huge sprue chunks sticking out of it. I would have gleefully carved new fur from metal, but not from the resin. Those shoulder pads barely fit on the model – no obvious point of contact and your stuck trying to fit the arms properly all the while fighting the shoulder pads/cloak.

    • NightLord_001

yeah, the shoulders are a right pain. i think they’re supposed to sit on the arm balls, but those need the cape on first to position right.

      • Coltcabunny

Yup, in a fit of irony the one I reposed (so I didn’t have a duplicate) by removing the shoulder pads from the cloak and making into a pose a bit like the Blackclad Wayfarer (as much as one can make it in that pose in MoW armour) was far less hassle to assemble than the stock model.

Agree on all counts with resin chunks. Those were bloody annoying.
