The new Shadow War: Armageddon rule book is out and so is a new Terrain kit – come take a look inside!

When Shadow War: Armageddon shipped, it sold out pretty much instantly. Well if you missed the boat, no worries because the rulebook is now available and it’s bigger and better! Our friends at Dragon’s Lair brought over a copy as well as the new Galvanic Servohaulers for this edition of the Tabletop Spotlight:

The book itself is 200 pages, a full 80 pages larger than the one that came in the boxed set. The big differences is that this new book has all of those fancy PDF rules GW put out included as well as two more factions: Sisters of Battle and Inquisition warbands. For the most part, the first 120 pages or so is roughly the exact same, so if you have the book from the boxed set the core rules are identical. If you’ve been waiting to jump in the Shadow War: Armageddon then I would highly recommend grabbing this book and diving in.

The Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers kit is another fantastic kit in the range. Unlike your typical terrain/vehicle kit, it’s supposed to be a tool of work and not a weapon of war. For the same reason I loved the Armored Containers, I like these servohaulers. It’s a peek behind the scenes of the Grim-Dark. It teases what life is like when the planet isn’t under constant threat of attack and what daily life is like for the citizens of the Imperium. It humanizes the setting in a cool way.

On top of being a pretty detailed kit, it also comes with it’s own scenario. I’ll be honest, I don’t really see myself using the scenario for anything other than a narrative game. I don’t think every piece of terrain needs special rules, but some folks are really into that so at least they aren’t taking that option away. So just check with your opponent before you dive in.  It’s a pretty great kit regardless of how you use it in your games.

Both of these releases are in stores now so if you are looking for a new hobby challenge or if you just want to get in some fun skirmish action your FLGS will have you covered!

Shadow War: Armageddon $40

Armageddon is wracked with war. As hordes of ferocious Ork warriors surge across the planet, they are met in combat by the combined forces of the Imperium. The bloodiest and most gruelling battles are fought within the hives: the ancient, towering cities that are the last strongholds of Humanity.

Across Hive Acheron, elite squads of soldiers are deployed where larger armies are unable to operate. These guerilla fighters creep through the twisting pipes and gantries of the hive to strike deep within enemy territory. They are assassins, and saboteurs – they are the kill teams of Armageddon, battling over precious promethium in order to win the shadow war and decide the fate of the bitter battle that has engulfed the planet.

The Shadow War: Armageddon rulebook is a 200-page softback, featuring new rules and some features previously only available online.

Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers $40

A highly-detailed, evocative plastic scenery kit, the Galvanic Servohaulers are a set of 2 haulers and a large crane, which open up a host of modelling options with which to add linear obstacles to your gaming table, providing cover for your miniatures and evoking a lived-in, working feel to the industrial scenery of the Sector Mechanicus range.

The 2 servohaulers themselves are remnants of ancient technology; little more than powerful engines with tracked wheels, they’re covered in iron plating, and feature a hydraulic crane and robotic arm – these pieces are interchangeable between the two. Both servohaulers feature Adeptus Mechanicus symbols and large, almost primitive exhaust systems – there’s nothing elegant here!

The crane is a much taller machine, a skeletal frame of iron holding a chain, three-clawed grabber and winch with a large engine block and Adeptus Mechanicus symbols on the sides.

The trailer that the crane fits upon can instead fit a Munitorum Armoured Container; this kit has been designed with an eye to mixing and matching components from that kit and creating your own obstacles and cover in industrial environments. Also included are a toolbox and fire extinguisher, because in the grim darkness of the far future safety is still a top concern.
