You don’t need a ticket to ride this Railroad Revolution!

The Tabletop Spotlight is on Railroad Revolution courtesy of our friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy.

It’s the 19th century and the US Congress has just passed the Pacific Railroad Acts. As the owner of a smaller East Coast Railroad company, you are about to try and create the first coast-to-coast rail way system. You’re going to have to compete with all the other companies but the first one done will signal the end of the game – but it’s not just about points…it’s about profit!

The gameplay is pretty simple. Everyone has a pool of workers that the players control. You assign them to tasks and can promote them to mangerial roles too. That will free you up to higher more workers but the promoted worker will be out of the pool. You’ve got to manage the rest of your resources while expanding your railroad empire. You’ve also go objectives to try and meet for bonus points along the way. If you can complete your railroad, score your objectives and manage your workforce well, the you just might have what it takes to be the next coast-to-coast railroad Baron!

What’s Your Game has a really handy video that shows off the game as well:

Or if you’re the reading type, you can download the rules right HERE. Overall, this game is a good mix of resource management and worker placement. And because the objectives are semi-random that helps to keep the game fresh. I also like the inclusion of the Telegraph system as well. If you’re looking for a game that the whole family can play for game night or if you’re just looking for something to add to the rotation for your gaming friends, I’d keep an eye out for Railroad Revolution. Personally, I’m sucker for a good worker placement game so sign me up for this one!
