It’s the return of the Death Korps of Krieg and a tank that brings the BBQ in this preview from Forge World!

Last week Forge World teased Imperial Armour Index: Xenos. Now, we are getting a closer look at the true heroes of the Imperium – the Astra Militarum!

Malcador Infernus

If Toughness 8 and 18(!) Wounds isn’t enough to interest you then take a look at the Inferno Gun. Mark the Malcador as one of those units you do NOT want to charge. If it gets within 16″ it’s going to provide it’s own BBQ for the battle.  Oh and let’s not discount the Titanic Explosion – which is probably my favorite part. When this tank does die it’s got a good shot of taking a lot of folks with it!

First off, these guys are fast. A 10″ move and they do not suffer penalties when charging into terrain features – that’s just plain good! They need to be so they can get into a good position to charge – because that is where they bring the pain. Their hunting lances are particularly threatening for multi-wound models – things like those pesky Primarius Space Marines will want to avoid them…if they can! Also their Augmented Mount ability should help with their survival against small arms fire. Combine that with a +4 save and 2 wounds each and your opponent will have to decide if they want to take a chance with “wasting” their little shots or will they “waste” their big guns on them. Decisions, decisions…

That’s not all either. GW had this to say as well:

“Dying isn’t even much of an obstacle for these baleful horsemen – like in the background, Death Korps aren’t so much fazed by death as encouraged by it – The Cult of Sacrifice ability significantly reduces the effect of morale tests, while unique Death Korps Orders like Duty Unto Death! allow any models killed in the Fight phase to immediately make a single attack. We haven’t even begun to get into how these guys work with the rest of the Death Korps army, or Death Rider characters like the Death Rider Squadron Commander.”

There will be a whole lot more goodies for the Astra Militarum in the near future. Index: Astra Militarum drops June 23!
