Check out the upcoming Infantry Command for the Uthuk Y’llan.
These are all about influencing the battle through other models. Listed as being able to “invade the minds of their allies or their enemies,” I think it’s safe to imagine they’ve got ways of either buffing friendly troops, or bringing down whatever’s in their way.
And with a Psychosis Siren upgrade available to them, they can start inflicting morale tests and panic tokens, which can really add up after a turn or two. Especially with the other models in the Uthuk Y’llan. You’ll have a great way of ‘priming’ enemy units to get detonated with morale tests later on down the line.
These serve as a terrifyingly gruesome example of the penalty for treason/disobedience in the Uthuk Y’llan. Each shrieker is a poor wretch who disobeyed a Blood Witch and had their lungs put on the outside, kept alive by foul magic. Now they live on (if you can call it living) as mindless husks who help direct the horde. Mere extensions of a Witch’s powerful will.
These Champions are “rewarded” by the Witches and given the ability to carry the gruesome trophies of the warband. Those long boney spurs are grown and warped from the warrior’s own skeleton and adorned with mementos of past battles and victories. The Warsprinters, as you might expect, lead the charge–they are the vanguard of the Uthuk Y’llan.
And then of course there are the Grotesques, who offer themselves up to the Witches in order that their bodies might be turned into living weapons. They trade their sanity and wills for greater power, enabling them to function as an anvil against which the opposing army might be broken. Doubly so if foes should face a Grotesque Slasher.
