FW: Kharon Pattern Acquistior Preview

The Sisters of Silence are getting a new ride to the battlefield – Check out the Kharon Pattern Acquisitor from Forge World!

via Warhammer Community

Like the vehicles of the Adeptus Custodes, the Kharon Pattern Acquisitor is a skimmer, albeit one of a more ominous and covert provenance. Aquiline motifs like the winged tailfin and the beak-like front of the vehicle tie the Kharon Pattern Acquisitor to the rest of the Talons of the Emperor, but it has a distinctively brutal silhouette, complemented by the iron-maiden style hatches on the sides of the vehicle. These are not for the Sisters of Silence but for their unfortunate psychic quarry; the Sisters themselves disembark from the irising hatch at the skimmer’s fore, embellished with the icon of their shadowed order. It’s easy to imagine just how terrifying seeing one of these in the 31st Millennium would be, psyker or no!

This new transport is looking it fill a dual role for the Sisters of Silence as transport and gunboat. On the offensive side of things it’s packing quite a bit of firepower and will provide that necessary “hail of fire” to be a viable threat. Defensively, it’s also got “an array of cloacking technology (like the sensor pod running along the vehicle’s spine)” to provide that much-needed safety net to deliver it’s deadly payload intact. Can you imagine a squad of flamer toting Witchseekers dropping out of this APC and toasting your foes? Well get ready because it’s about to become a reality!

The Kharon Pattern Acquisitor will be coming soon from Forge World. But if you want to get a heads-up on exactly what this vehicle will bring to the table be sure to check out it’s full rules in Inferno.

Burninating the country side, burninating the Pskers…

    Looks more Kharadron, lol.

    • Severius_Tolluck

I see this as straight out of David Lynch’s Dune lol!

      • ZeeLobby

        Haha. Definitely.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.”

      • GrenAcid

That was my first thought and Im not sure if it helps.

      • paralipsis

If one were to put this alongside the Custodes vehicles released over the last six months or so and it would look like a recreation of the scene where the emperor meets with the guild navigator at the start of Dune.

        • Severius_Tolluck

          Exactly

  • orionburn

Simple but elegant design. Glad they went with black rather than the blinged out gold that you see so often.

    • L-G

It’s only the Custodes who have golden stuff. The Sisters of Silence have always been equipped with black vehicles. Partly because of their intimidating and terror image. This is also seen on the Black Ships witch they operate witch are black and almost without any external lighting.

I couldn’t remember if their Rhino was done up in the gold scheme or not when GW released that box that had troops and a Rhino & Land Raider in it. The black motiff suits them much better.

        • L-G

The one pictured in the Talons of the Emperor box from GW was painted gold, and it didn’t look so good. Too much gold and ”bling” in my opinion. There is a nice picture of a Custodes Land Raider in Visions of Heresy that are red with golden details and awesome las-weapons. That looks so much better on larger models with big flat surfaces than gold. I guess they went with gold beacause ”hey, it’s Custodes! They are golden so let’s paint everything gold!” http://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/664b4e3f935d3e1fa6992d501d0e8d7f134ea512e737dc9b6710f45f11acf889.jpg

  • Krizzab

man looks like a Navigator transport vehicle from dune.

  • Horus84cmd

Really stylish sleek design. I like the ominous overbearing look to it.

  • Crablezworth

    Love it

  • uatu13

Any 8th rules for it? With HH and 8th using completely different rules, I can’t help to be less excited for a lot of the FW goodies coming out.

    • pokemastercube .

i was hopeing the tallons of the emperor stuff would have got rules in the FW index’s. but as they diddnt i suscpect if anything we would have to wait for a IA book that has them as a focus, which would not be the next one given the focus is tau vs ad-mech and red scorpions chapter of space marines

      • Maarten vd Z.

I think that book has already been announced as being worked on.

        • pokemastercube .

the only books i know they working on are IA: fires of pryxis (the one i referenced above) and HH anglus (dark and blood angels focused, with chaos deamons as the main BA bit being sangus prime)

    • L-G

It’s for the Horus Heresy, not 40k. I’m not saying that they may not exist in 40k fluff-vise, but that’s not the ”main use” for them. Not everything HH is supposed to be in 40k.
A part of what’s making the HH so intresting is the fact that it shows the Imperium in its glory days, while they where using all that rare exsotic and advanced technology that no longer are available to to the Imperium in the 40k setting beacause of the degredation and decay it’s beeing trough. Alot of Mankinds technology is just lost in time. Thats why relics and really really old stuff is so revered av sought after and beeing viewed as superior to ”todays” technology.

    One-headed Aquila?

    • L-G

The closets servants of the Emperor (Custodes and Sisters of Silence) often used the Emperors own insignia, witch is the one-headed eagel. This is to show their status as the right and left hand of the Emeror and also serves as a badge of office.
The two-headed Aquilia symbolises the union of the Imperium and the Mechanicus (the eagel with the eye represents the Emperor and the other represents the Mechanicum).
After the Unification Wars but before the Union with Mars, the Emperors one-headed eagel was the most used icon (seen on many Astartes models, but mostly them in mk.II armour), but afterwards the Aquilia was to become the official insignia representing the Imperium and all of Mankind.

  • Jack Boland

despite this not being my fav 30k model, it is still so far superior to anything happening in 40k at the moment.

    this belongs in Dune

    Buck Rogers!
