Return to the 8 Realms and the world of Blood Bowl this week.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Path to Glory $35

In this book, you’ll learn how to place yourself in the blood-soaked boots of a powerful warlord, dragging an ever-growing band of fiercely loyal followers into savage combat across the Mortal Realms. Starting with a single champion and a few followers, you’ll – assuming your capacity for violence is enough – gradually turn your warband into a rapacious horde of killers edging ever closer to eternal glory.

Contained in the 88-page softback:

– The Rise of Gulgaz – the story of the meteoric rise of Gulgaz Stoneklaw and his warclan, who expanded into a veritable juggernaut of an army;
– a detailed explanation of the Path to Glory campaign: how to create a warband, how Glory Points are accrued and spent (and the rewards they bring), and how to achieve eternal glory – the final victory in a campaign;
– a Warband Roster – this is a blank roster on which to document your warband and its exploits – you’re free to photocopy this;
– 6 Battleplans – essentially, missions you can use in your campaign, each with a different objective that changes the way your games are played;
– Warband Tables – these are the rules used to determine the champion, followers and rewards for your warbands. Included are tables for the following factions: Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Beasts of Chaos, Skaven, Clans Pestilens, Kharadron Overlords, Stormcast Eternals, Fyreslayers, Sylvaneth, Seraphon, Order (chosen from Human, Aelf and Duardin models), Ironjawz, Beastclaw Raiders, Bonesplitterz, Destruction (chosen from Orruk, Grot and Ogor models), Flesh-Eater Courts and Death;
– Start Collecting! Warbands – if you’re itching to get going, but don’t have the right models for a warband (or just fancy a new one…) then these are the rules for you – they’re designed to work with the Start Collecting! boxes of Warhammer Age of Sigmar models. Simply pick up a box, assemble the miniatures and you’re good to go – these rules have been fine-tuned to offer immediacy and balance.

  • Chris Hilliard

    I was just telling a new player that AoS has some great starting sets, and GW decides to raise the bar. The Magmadroth alone would cost as much as the box!

    • el_tigre

      It’s the Carnosaur all over again. Hey! You kids wanna buy some Saurus?

      • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

        Actually Carnosaurs separately still sells. Exodite conversions for people who don’t want/don’t have anyone to share with the rest of the contents.

    • Discoqing

      It should never have cost 50quid, but good to see a starting set for the fyre boys. Even if 13 or so months too late.

    • Mattias Ciavarella

      In Norway a Start Collecting box is 550 NOK, while a stand alone Magmadroth is 770!!

      • CloakingDonkey

        wow. Now that’s what I call a deal. And I thought getting the Berserkers for free was amazing 😀

      • Derek

        No the price of the Magmadroth had been reduced to match the SC set. This applied to all region, check Norway Store again.

        • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

          No, the Magmadroth is no longer available to sold individually. If you check the description it says taht if you order it you will get the SC! instead.

        • Geko747

          Still £50 on the UK website. SCrap that the description says you get the SC box. awesome bout time they done this.

    • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

      No, the Magmadroth is no longer available to sold individually. If you check the description it says taht if you order it you will get the SC! instead.

  • ALittleGreeky

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that Slaanesh box technically has two chariots, since the exalted chariot requires two kits to make. That’s an amazing steal.

    • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

      Still need to know if it comes with two additional large oval bases or only a big round base. I don’t think it comes with only one, but stil…

    • Discoqing

      Nice one, didn’t know that. 2 of these is a great steal!

  • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

    Also, Magmadroths are no longer available to sale individually; if you check on any of the three Auric Fyreslayers on Magmadroth description, you will notice that if you order them, you will get the SC! instead.

    Now, that sounds quite tragic for me, honestly. I mean, does that mean that the Magmadroth was so poorly sold that it not only had to get a price drop, be included on a SC!, and on top of that, it will no longer be available outside of the SC! bundle? that’s… sad…

    • bobrunnicles

      It may be sad but it’s great news for me – I’m in for one at least and possibly two 🙂

      • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

        I never said it was bad news (for us), but it certainly sounds a bit tragic. Fortunately, in the Rountree era, overpricing is becoming more and more sporadic.

        And you might want up to four SC! to start a Grand Fyrd and mount every Auric leader on Magmadroths

    • Discoqing

      Fyreslayers were really poorly executed in AoS for a quite iconic and unique force (even when slayers back in WFB!).
      They were expensive points wise and money wise,whilst the rules being not great.
      Then the points were dropped making them better, but you then Ofc, needed more of them!
      With 2nd ed coming soon, and these starter sets, hopefully they’ll see more play
