Games Workshop has a new Rumor Engine and it’s one barrel that’s not full of monkeys.

Well hopefully it’s not full of monkeys – at least if you’ve been following your Imperial Infantrymen’s Uplifting Primer. We all remember the famous Jenkins Incident and don’t want a repeat of that…

ANYHOW – I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this one doesn’t have anything to do with Age of Sigmar. I think we can narrow this one down to a 40k bit of some sort:

This week’s Rumour Engine is here! Looks deadly (whatever it is).

My first thought is that it’s some type of Lasgun. It’s got the tell-tale Lasgun battery (aka the magazine), the muzzle of a Lasgun and even the angle looks like a las-pistol.

See the Squad Sergeant’s pistol? Same angle.

What’s odd is the barrel. It’s longer than the las-pistol but it’s closer to the “magazine” than a standard lasgun. I seem to remember there being a las-carbine bit floating around there but the kit escapes me at the moment (I think it was a tank commander bit – not sure). Could this be a sign that the Astra Militarum are getting some love in an upcoming kit? It makes sense to me – Cadian Shock Troopers have lost their homeworld but not their grim resolve. Maybe we’ll see an updated version of the Guard’s most prevalent faction. We could also be seeing a new option for the Scions as well:

The Scions have access to better equipment and training than your typical Guardsmen – maybe these new las-weapons are going to reflect that in some way. Whatever the case, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the Imperial Forces are getting SOMETHING new heading their way soon…

What do you think? Is this a new flashlight for the Guard or some thing for the Scions? Could it be a completely new faction? Let us know your theories in the comments below!
