Take a look at the upcoming Deathguard and the newly announced Adeptus Mechanicus codex.

The office betting pool had been shattered. The next Codex is not, in fact, chock full of power armor. It’s full of Skitarii–who even though it sounds like they should be making an appearance on Stargate SG-1 are in fact a bunch of robots and cyber men.

But not Cybermen.

This is pretty exciting news, the AdMech were some of the best new (relatively) designs that GW had been working on, and they’be really been stepping up their modeling game. I mean,  just look at how sexy Mortarion is at the head of those Deathguard.

Speaking of segues:

This is one of the most exciting armies of the new edition, and you can expect to see loads of new and revamped units (you may be able to pick out a few of them from the picture, if you’re not too distracted by just how awesome Mortarion looks leading his Legion).

How many new units can you spot? I see Plague Terminators, NEW TYPHUS, the Plagueburst Crawlers in the back (and it looks like there’s something in between them and the Blight Drones – sporting new weapons). There’s that gross looking Defiler in the back, and of course, foreshadowing their upcoming codex, a hapless band of doomed Imperials in the foreground. Also nice touch with the Nurgle symbols strapped to the Marine statues.

Hey look at that, another segue.

And not a mall cop in sight.

The Adeptus Mechanicus are being re-armed for the new edition with their best codex ever. This book will contain rules for fielding the Cult Mechanicus, the Skitarii and the Knights of the Questor Mechanicus, alongside – for the first time – powerful faction rules for seven forge worlds.

Codex: Death Guard will be out in September, with Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus not far behind.

Well there you have it folks. Two new codices coming in short order. I’m particularly excited to see Forge Worlds get their own faction rules. I wonder if we’ll see a different codex for like Konor or one of the other narrative heavy ones. But that might be asking too much of a relatively newer faction.

We’ll just have to wait and see!

In the meantime, what do you think of the announcement? And did you spot any as yet unrevealed units?
