We’ve gotten new looks at the Death Guard Primarch and his Termy buddies. Here’s what you may have missed.

Mortarion

Morty is BIG. He doesn’t have the sheer psychic scaled up size of Magnus or a Bloodthirster, but the model looks to be as tall. His base is hard to estimate from the images, but I would eyeball it in the 90mm or 100 round size.

Morty should be stable. Note the three thick columns from his magic cloak that hook into the rocky base.  It looks to be much more sturdier that things like Nagash or the Celestant Prime.

While Magnus is clearly Tzeentch/Avian themed, Mortarion is moth/insect based.  Look at the Atlas-moth style wings and insect wing vein patterns below for comparison. Now you know a lot much about moth wing veins than you did this morning.

He’s dripping in censors. Censors on chains, censors in straps, censors in his daemon moth wings, censors being carried by flying nurgling-cherubs – censors everywhere. I count 14 and I can’t see his back.

The model is in a mid-motion “snapshot pose” surrounded by lots of flowy chaos energy. This harkens back to the Yncarne, Mortis Engine and Nagash.

We don’t know yet if this model has any build options like Magnus did, but it’s such an intricate busy kit I would see this as difficult to pull off.

I REALLY like the flying Nurgling cherubs as it sets up a dark chaos reflection of the Imperial gothic/Roman Catholic iconography. It’s an inspired choice.

He’s got a nice mix of generic triple skill Nurgle (shoulderpad) and Death Guard logos (kneepad)

Finally there are two whitish objects extending back from his shoulders in between his wings. That could be anything from part of his cowl, to spikey growths, to an extra set of folded wings.  We will have to see the back of the model to know what’s up.

Atlas Moth. This beauty is 10″ across!

The Terminators

We’ve now seen several of these guys:

I’m pretty sure that new guy isn’t Typhus. He has a different helmet and only one eye.

Again we see the Nurgle tentacle theme commonly seen since it’s arrival with Gutrot Spume.

These guys if anything seem more disfigured than normal Plague Marines, with fantasy inspired chainmail and wrecked and distended bodies and armor.

I’m noting a pattern of covered, missing, or disfigured eyes on the Death Guard – I like it.

Also – scythes – scythes everywhere!

Bonus Dude – the Tallyman

Now it gets interesting.

This model described on video as “tallyman” is carrying paper and pencil, and AN ABACUS WITH SKULLS as counting beads!

Nurgle has often had both a fluff and rules background of counting; from the drone of Plaguebearers counting diseases for eternity to Epidemius’ master list. I have a suspicion we will see this model bring some of that over to the CSM side of things.

He also has an obvious vox/loudspeaker to call out his count, so I think this guy will offer some type of area effect buffs for the Death Guard.  I’m intrigued.

~ I woud think this stuff all hits us in very early September. What do you all think?
