FAQ

Q: Can you play as Norsca in Total War™: WARHAMMER® II?

A: No, it is DLC for the first game only. However, shortly after the launch of the second game, we will be releasing an extra combined campaign map, which is a whole new, massive campaign accessible for free by owners of both first and second games. Norsca will also eventually be playable in that combined campaign map.

Q: Do I need to pre-order to get it?

A: No, you can purchase it alone if you do not wish to pre-order or buy Total War™: WARHAMMER® II in the first week.

Q: Will it come with Free-LC?

A: Yes. All owners of Total War™: WARHAMMER®, regardless of whether they own the DLC, will have that race appear/update in the game and will be given new challenges to deal with in their campaigns. We are also releasing Free-LC alongside Norsca as well, stay tuned for more info shortly.

Description

In the far north, between the Chaos Wastes and the Sea of Claws, lies Norsca. A barren, inhospitable peninsula in the far north of the Old World, it is home to ferocious tribes of warriors, hardened by the relentless blizzards, the barren icy tundra and the monstrous denizens of this accursed land. Fanatical servants of the dark gods, they will stop at nothing to prove their primal might, in a relentless hunt for worthy foes and fresh raiding grounds.

Playstyle

A Norscan campaign is one of relentless pillage and ruination. Their principle sources of income are raiding and sacking. This lends itself to a very mobile and combative playstyle – always keeping your armies on the move and often in contention with other factions. Razing settlements enables you to erect monoliths to the dark gods of Norsca… and the gods always reward the faithful!

In battle, Norscan armies are swift and vicious, featuring a backbone of increasingly fierce and more heavily armed Marauder infantry units. With the right buildings in place, they can also recruit a wide array of monstrous units such as Trolls, Fimir Warriors, Norscan Ice Wolves and Skin Wolves. At the top of the tree are the Frost-Wyrm and the colossal War Mammoth.

Wait a second…Massive combined campaign if I own BOTH titles…Well now, that changes things.

I just beat the DLC for the first time earlier today. Throgg the Troll King is a lot of fun (shame I can’t find the miniature for less than $130). You basically just answer all questions with “Trolls”, stomp around the map and burn things down in the name of the [animal] god. I picked The Crow (nurgle) and eventually my sacrifices brought a plague down upon the world. I’d gotten the vampire counts and the empire cleared out before Achaeon showed up and asked me to bend the knee.

Fun thing: The game gives you a choice. If you decide to work for Achaeon and bring about the endtimes, you get a buff and the Warriors of Chaos in their full strength and glory as allies. You can pick “No, I’M the Everchosen!” though and get a small buff while chaos yet lives, and a MASSIVE one if you wipe them out. ^_^

All-in-all good time. I’m going to play a few games later with other factions and see what it’s like having a fractured Norsica with two legendary lords trying to unite it, rather than two major norse factions that snowball really quickly early game.

I’m 140ish turns in an no sign of Chaos. I was starting to wonder is they even showed up when you played Norsca. Looking forward to that little event then. I love being a Chaos faction that can actually conquer land!

      • YetAnotherFacelessMan

Yeah, they’ll pop in once you’re dedicated to a god and take out your 3 challengers.

        • EnTyme

Good to know. Just have one challenger army left to take out. Guess I’d better decide whether or not I’ll bend the knee. Nope! I’ve got War Mammoths. Archaon can get in line. This world is mine!

    • dave long island

Wow cool faceless man, sounds fun!

  • Golden Yak

    Mammoths! They are the best!

    • EnTyme

My Wulfrik is riding a War Mammoth, rolling with four others and a Warshrine Mammoth and a Giant, and supported by Marauder Javelins, Berserkers, and Champions. It’s a beautiful sight on the battlefield.
