FW: New Releases “Sicaran Omega Tank Destroyer”

Tanks got you down? Forge World has a new answer for all your armor melting needs!

via Forge World

Legion Sicaran Omega Tank Destroyer £82

Retrofitted to allow the Sicaran hull to carry heavier firepower, the Omega is a formidable tank hunter. It utilises the speed provided by the Sicaran’s engines to apply overwhelming short range firepower in battle, racing forwards to ambush and obliterate the lumbering siege tanks of enemy columns.

Its simplified, some might say crude, systems are all capable of being produced by the lesser forges attached to many Space Marine strongholds, allowing them to replace losses of more complex vehicles even as the various Forge Worlds became isolated by war and mistrust at the height of the Horus Heresy.

This is a complete multi-part resin kit, in which you’ll find all the components you need to assemble a Legion Sicaran Omega Tank Destroyer. Sharing a hull with the sturdy Legion Sicaran Battle Tank, the standout feature to this model is the 2 enormous plasma cannon that dominate the turret head. These cannon are fed power by massive arrays of tightly-bound cables and both feature their own ammo feed, as well as 6 plasma flasks. Other features that distinguish this model from the Battle Tank on which it is based are the complex sensor array and window visor; the rest of the kit includes 2 lascannon, 3 heavy bolters and all the gun mounts, tracked wheels and large, brutal-looking exhausts you would expect.

This kit comes as 52 components. Rules for fielding the Legion Sicaran Omega Tank Destroyer in games of Warhammer 40,00 and The Horus Heresy are available as a PDF download.

Did someone call for the exterminator?

  • Steve L Duelist

Awesome Tank, Love the 8th ed rules, not amazed but the HH sustained burn, hope it would have been better at monster hunting

  • SilentPony

FW, when I said you need to do a Sicaran in every variant, I was joking!

Although a close combat variant would be nice…*hint hint*

    • euansmith

With a pair of massive powerfists on its sponsons?

      • SilentPony

I was thinking giant lances, for ramming something. And a giant wrecking ball for the turret!

        • euansmith

Or how about a Robot Wars style flipper, jaw or spinning disc? 😀

          • SilentPony

Gotta have something for the front mount! A flipper would be good in HH where vehicle sides are still a thing.
But in 8th a spinning disk that gets 1 A per enemy model in base-to-base at AP0, D1 wouldn’t be bad. Good for hordes.

          • zeno666

The flipper is just OP! 😉

        • Matt_from_Colorado

    • Koonitz

You could look at the Chaos variants in the Index. Comes base with an AP -3 melee attack and WS 4+ flat (4/3/2 attacks), as well as the ability to heal whenever it removes a model from play in the fight phase.

  • euansmith

“We have run in to a problem, Lord Commander; the enemy have no Omega Tanks for us to destroy!”

  • raul

Forgeworld, is it that hard to type up some Chaos rules for these? Just change some words.

    • Deacon Ix

I can only give you the one upboat 🙁

  • Randy Randalman

Because why make something for Xenos when you can always make more for Imperium or Chaos… Yay FW…

    • SilentPony

      Just Ork it up!

      • euansmith

        “Dis tank az bin looted.”

    • Deacon Ix

      Technically Imperium only ATM…

    • zeno666

But Imperium is like more than half the game ya know. Its Imperium 30k/40k

    • Koonitz

Forge World is currently releasing a number of items for their Horus Heresy game. That they also release rules for 40k is secondary. Their Horus Heresy game is focused entirely on Imperial armies. Space Marine Legions, both loyal and heretical, Mechanicum and Solar Auxilia.

It should come as no surprise then, that what they release is for these armies.

  • I_am_Alpharius

Wonder how FW came to the price of £82? I mean, why not £80 or £85? Someone must have sat there and thought “Ooo £85’s a bit much. Maybe £80, but that would on the low side…what about £82? Yeah £82. That works.”

    • Deacon Ix

I imagine that it is more along the line that the amount of resin used (inc wastage) costs about £0.82

  • stinkoman

ewww, plasma tank. no thank you. plasma cannons must be the most useless weapons right now. 6 shots to do 1 damage each? how about just a twin lascannon instead?

    • Koonitz

Assuming you are looking at the 8th Ed rules and not the Heresy rules, I think you’ve missed the “3 shots that do 3 damage each, +1 MW on wounds of 6”.

If you want an infantry killer, I suggest not buying a tank called an “Omega TANK Destroyer”.

If you want a pure tank-killing Sicaran, get the Venator, 3 shots, d6 damage each. Leveling out to be a little more effective, on average (3.5 damage per shot), than the Omega, with a little more swing.

Shot for shot, it’s a reliable damage dealer with an option to do a bit more against single wound targets than the Venator.

If you want infantry killing, get the Sicaran Punisher. I don’t feel I will need to explain why once you see the turret.

      • stinkoman

3 shots at 24 inches doing 3 damage is meh if your hunting tanks. especially if you factor in the cost and the overcharge risk. plasma cannons and their variants seem crap in comparison to other heavy/tank busting weapons of similar points values.

yeah lascannon vary, but the potential on those sponsons are “arguably” better since you can fire them at pretty much anything on the table with d6 damage each.

Venerator sounds interesting though. not too familiar with all the variants.

im assuming the punisher is some kind of dual punisher cannon or vulkan mega bolter type.

  • Carey_Mahoney

    Get me one!

  • Iconoc1ast

  • Marco Marantz

Pretty mediocre. I read the comments before viewing the profile; I was therefore expecting it to be 3 shots with each cannon at maximal/supercharged….but nope only 3 for both. There are better options for the points.
