Geekery: First the Teasers, Now the Trailers

Both Castle and Croft have experienced loss, both seek answers. Both are in a lot of action sequences.

Beyond that they don’t have a lot in common, but I only get 6 articles a week so y’all get a twofer today.

This series is going to ramp up the level of violence we’ve seen in past Marvel series. The kills have a decidedly John Wick feeling to them. Part of that may have to do with Evan Dane Taylor creating the fight choreography – he worked on John Wick 2 and the first season of Daredevil.

I was on board for this when it was announced last year. Still no solid release date.

The video games got a reboot in 2013 that brought Lara Croft into the modern age, and changed her origins. Alicia Vikander does a decent job here at portraying a young Croft – ready for adventure, nearly fearless, curious, and intelligent. Doesn’t hurt that she looks like the most recent incarnation of the character, too.

I’m not huge on video game adaptations, but I’d be willing to see how the reviews play out on this. It could be a passable action/adventure movie.

So excited for Punisher, can’t wait!

  • First one.. eh. Ain’t care.

Second one… if it’s less torture-porn than the bloody games, I’ll be happy.

Punisher was a lot of fun in DD – but I wonder if he’ll be less special on his own. Looks likes a fairly standard ‘guns and revenge’ story atm.

Gun escalation 😀 One of my favourite movies is “Ronin” and one of the things that really tickles me is the way that Robert Deniro’s characters works his way up through a wide range of ever larger weapons from a small pistol to a light anti-tank weapon. The hilariously bad Irish accents are just the icing on the cake. It looks like Frank Castle is going to use ALL the guns in this never series.
