You might want to pick up some hand sanitizer to go with your Nurgle purchases this week…

  • ZeeLobby

Unfortunate that every box comes with Sigmarines. Guess they really want people to play them.

    • Gunther Clone C

Waiting for my Skaven box. 🙂

      • Tim Lester

Spire of dawn $80, dont want the high elves, sell them.

        • Gunther Clone C

Totally forgot about that. Thanks! 🙂

  • Bigdadi99

GW is knocking it out the park with these Nurgle models. They look incredible. Wish my painting skills were worthy enough to sling pigment their way.

    • FCBullsht

I completely dislike them… Totally overflooded with mostly ridiculous details and coloured like Woodstock hippies on gardening duty.

These are supposed to be the bringers of death and despair and not some party clowns on LSD

      • I_am_Alpharius

Each to their own, I guess. Like @Bigdadi99:disqus, I think the Death Guard range is an incredible set of figures. Frankly, there is not bad model in them. I little on the fence with the new Typhus, but thats growing on me now.

        • Calgar

I like the new Typhus minus the smoke stuff on his back. I suppose you can just leave that out though.

        • Lion El’ Jonson

….I reckon they are nice, but they are also frustrating to paint!

I have taken up the hobby of using a magnifier after I have painted a model up, because I always miss a tentacle!

          • I_am_Alpharius

Thats why block painting and washes are your friend 🙂

      • wesley570

Nurgle has always been super serious, you guys.

      • memitchell

Wow, what are the minis you like?

      • MKG35

You do know that in the fluff Papa Nurgle is a fairly jolly fellow and so are some of his followers.

      • I genuinely don’t see the party clown thing at all, they’re mutated terminators, they look like terminators

      • LankTank

You can paint them whatever colour you want? The models are fantastic. The paint job is just too crisp for my taste, but im guessing thats to just showcase the details

    • Spacefrisian

Its Nurgle, if you pant them nice you are doing it wrong, Nurgle stuf should look crap.

    • eMtoN

I’ve had a lot of fun painting them. Far more detail than your bog standard marine. When you take the time they end up looking really nice on the tabletop.

  • Rita-Audrey Jones

Gah Stormcasts are JUST so cool! Boy, I sure do love them to bits! I really want the Anvilgard set! Those privateers fit my love of pirates to a T!

  • D. B.

Liking those army sets. If they allow the background to grow more (and not just “Check out the new Sigmarine Lord Castellant-Elephant-Veritant Heraldor-Vexillor-Reardoor Thunderflashsmashhammerlightning”), this could turn out to be a very cool setting. Still carrying a torch for the Old World, but I won’t allow that to stop me from enjoying this.

As for the new Death Guard – you’ve heard of buzzkills; those are killbuzzers! *ba dum tss* Seriously, I like that they are as massive as background made them out to be since the 90s. Encountering a Nurgle termie is supposed to be like encountering a small dreadnought made from ceramite and rancid meat, and the minis do a great job of conveying that. (I’m only afraid that if you drop them, they might not break so much as burst like a zit…)

Not sure what to think of the Firestorm stickers, TBH. Wouldn’t magnets or good old-fashioned markers be a better option?

    • I’m considering mounting mine on plasticard, but making them stickers does make it easier to put away lol. I really wish it was a plastic board like planetary empires

  • SilentPony

Every time I see Typhus I just think Pavarotti singing Nessum Dorma…

    • D. B.

I wouldn’t sleep either if the Lord of Contagion was in town… so, oddly fitting.

      • ANevskyUSA

But is his True Name really “love?”

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

Wwhile wearing a pumpkin headed scarecrow costume.

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

While wearing a pumpkin headed scarecrow costume…

  • CloakingDonkey

I don’t have a problem with Typhus’ pose. I think it’s a lot more interesting than just legs spread, holding scythe in both hands looking to one side… Space Marines are boring enough they don’t need boring poses, too…

That being said that cloud of flies looks absolutely ridiculous. It’s not even up to GW’s current standard… It looks like something that would come with the old easy-to-build WFB play sets… horrible.

Definitely gonna pick up Firestorm and the Anvilguard box though. Just gotta wait for stores to get them. 😉

    • Looks to me like the swarm of flies and fumes are separate and in multiple pieces, so it shouldn’t be too problematic to assemble Typhus without them, at least.

      • CloakingDonkey

yeah probably. But it’s still a bit of an embarrassment to even include it in the kit, imo.

        • I’m glad they included it, it’s visually linked to mortarion while also being optional

  • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

Cool minis, just wish they’d hurry up and release the DG Vehicles already. I want my segue cops!

  • Slaanesh Devotee

It’s a wonder that the armour of that terminator with the flesh bulging through all across the back is still able to function, mechanically speaking. Such is the power of Nurgle, I suppose~

  • danutzfreeman

Really wish they’d make a Firestorm for 40k, as someone with multiple armies using them all in a campaign to conquer a planet a la Dawn of War:Dark Crusade would be completely awesome.

    • Dooms Day

I think they will after Christmas or maybe with chapter approved.

      • I_am_Alpharius

I would hazard they’ll see how Firestorm sells, and examine feedback, to workout whether the investment would be worth it.

    • Yeah, planetary empires 2018 plz

  • Moke

One type of combi weapon per Blightlord box? COME ON.

    • I_am_Alpharius

Try reading the GW Blurb on the Webstore before typing…

“The Champion of the unit can take combi-weapon upgrades; there’s a plasma, flamer and melta variant available.”

    • I_am_Alpharius

Well you get three different one (from the GW blurb): “combi-weapon upgrades; there’s a plasma, flamer and melta variant available.”

Yeah, you don’t enough to equip all the terminators, or all with the same combi-upgrade. However, thats par for the course on the whole with any unit kit. Its very easy to get hold of plasma, flamer and melta bit; so, should be very easy to convert them.

  • wesley570

I have to laugh at some of the Death Guard comments here. You guys will trash ANYTHING.

    • memitchell

Only commoners have appreciation for ANYTHING. BoLS connoisseurs ONLY have disdain. You are incapable of imagining that which they would find pleasing.

    • My armour is contempt. It protects my wallet.

      • memitchell

OK, this ain’t no place for logic!

    • Vicent Martín Bonet

I generally like what GW ha launched lately but I… just can’t like the Deathguard range. Mind you, I liked the foul blightspawn, the small vehicle and some of the other characters but the rest… eeeeeeh.

  • Dooms Day

So disappointed in monopose blightlords … also only 3 axes amd swords?? Really annoyed by that.

    • Are they more monopose than regular terminators?

      • Dooms Day

Urmm yer. Look at there sprues

  • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

Gosh those Nurgle models are stupidly encrusted and ovrly cartoony.

    • I really don’t get the cartoony comment TBH

      • luke-vdv

A lot of it comes down to the colour scheme. Mortarion looked a lot better painted in more muted corrosive colours by someone from BoLS than GW’s official bright green and pink.

        • I don’t really understand why anyone would calculate the paint scheme into their opinion of a model, that’s the part that’s entirely up to you lol

          • luke-vdv

If I need to sit here and explain to you that something that looks good is more likely to sell than something that looks bad then I don’t think you are capable of understanding in the first place. It’s just so simple.

          • Which has nothing to do with describing *models* as cartoony because of a paint job

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I’m not talking about the paint job, though I agree with Crimson Oracle that it doesnt help.

The model is overly caricatured. Cartoony in that it looks like an animation rather than a sculpture.

Compare the GW possessed or Daemon Prince (cartoony) to the Forgeworld equivalent to see what I mean.

          • luke-vdv

I understand what you’re saying, say, if we were to take a freshly built unpainted model and judge it purely by that. But, obviously not for you, it doesn’t work that way because a model is not going to be left grey and so needs to look good painted.

          • Again though, the studio’s choice of paint job isn’t relevant to a model’s aesthetics, the model comes grey, why do people give a crap about what a model sitting in Warhammer World in a case looks like. Complaining about that stuff is just bizarre, it’s people looking to complain, it shouldn’t be indulged it should be critiqued

          • luke-vdv

Because it matters when you are trying to sell something. If someone tried to sell you a car with a polka-dot paint job you would be less likely to be interested in it even if the car itself looked good. If GW gave them a better paint job then more people would like the look of the model and would therefore be more likely to buy it. It’s very, very basic selling tactics. It’s really not hard to understand. The word you’re looking for is disagree. You disagree with them judging the model by its paint job. Oh and I’m sure they don’t judge the model entirely by the paint job.

          • No, it’s not a disagreement about their opinion, it’s criticizing some people’s caustic negativity to the point where they feel the need to rant about what color some GW employee in Nottingham decided to paint their models. The car example is actually perfect, if a car was advertised with a polka dot paint job and came unpainted, it would be really dumb to complain about the show car’s color scheme

          • luke-vdv

I wasn’t talking about a floor model or an official seller I was referring to a private advertisement in the analogy.
Anyway, at this point I don’t think you are making much of an effort to understand in the first place so this is going no where. I didn’t like Mortarion when I first saw him because of all the bright colours but then I saw a much more muted colour scheme and I warmed up to the model. You may not think that way, but some people do. That’s all you need to attempt to understand.

  • memitchell

I so regret my finding the new Nurgle models amazing. Thankfully BoLS has set me straight. What rot is this new Nurgle issue! Now, I can only await the collective BoLS enlightened judgement of that which is truly amazing. Because, as I recall, to the BoLS elite, NOTHING is amazing. Or even on par with all that which BoLS also finds wanting. In fact, NOTHING is as good as ALL the other stuff which is NOT good. Maybe once GW masters sub-atomic modeling techniques?

    • luke-vdv

Or maybe some people don’t like them and some do as these comments indicate. There, summed it up in one sentence rather than ranting all over this comment section.

  • Gunther Clone C

Again, the design of Nurgle models is screaming an underwater “Bioshock/Big Daddy” paint scheme to me… which is neat! I also particularly like the Terminator turning into a fly, as well as the look of their axes.

  • Dan Wilson

Hoping they do one of these campaign boxes for each of the different realms, or some kind of expansion which contains maps for each of the other realms, different cities etc. Bring on Death and Shadow!

  • BloodAngel

Ii like those termies, I hate the Typhus model.

    • memitchell

I like him, but what we have here is a failure to communicate. The GW boys got the “Herald of Nurgle” memo. Hence the operatic pose, announcing the arrival of Nurgle for all to hear. But, somehow, instead of “Cloud OF Flies,” the designers read “Cloud AND Flies.” Not good.

      • BloodAngel

The rest look like they are heavy, slow and lumbering, which is what deathguard are described as. Implacable, slow and practically indestructible. Typhus is disco dancing. I feel the same way about Babyface the skipping sorcerer. But I have seen some nice conversions to minimize the silliness. Luckily, I have the old Typhus.
