GW: Rumor Engine “Birds of a Feather”

This one should tickle your brain – come see the latest teaser from Games Workshop!

via Warhammer Community

The Rumour Engine shows no sign of stopping! Any thoughts on what this week’s sneak peek could be?

Well now, that is either one really odd plant or a peacock feather! Now the question is what in the world is it attached to?

There are more than a couple armies in AoS that use feathers in their armor. The people of the Freeguilds are pretty notorious for them:

However, none of those are peacock feathers. Now, is that because GW sculptors can do much more with their sculpts these days? Possibly! Some of these models are a growing long in the tooth. But the army formerly known as The Empire hardly has a monopoly on feathers in their caps (or capes, banners, and persons).

There are plenty of other models that are also feathered – and that’s just the AoS range. 40k has some other options which we won’t even get into. However, while most of these models have feathers, none of them have peacock feather. So that is one thing to take into account. We know it’s for a new model but the options are pretty wide open! Alright Internet Detectives – I leave this one up to you. What do you think it’s for?

Put a bird on it.

  • benn grimm

    Sigmarine peacock rider…?

    • ZeeLobby

      Would be my guess.

      • benn grimm

        Great minds eh? 😉

  • Bluewater1976

It’s an strange mutant leech, look at its wriggly legs…

    • Chris Koster

That’s what I am thinking. Feathers are far more tidey. Those bristles are to clumpy and all over the place and the end looks like a sucker.

      • Muninwing

see, i was wondering if it was supposed to look more fiery… like a peacock feather suggested by flames.

if that’s it, i’d expect this to be phoenix-like.

but we really need to see the rest of the model to know.

  • LordKrungharr

I sure do like those Sigmarite Hippogriff guys. I kinda think it will have to do with them given the new Blightwar kit has some in there. That’s a great start box. I want the snail.

  • SilentPony

Raven Guard details for the plastic thunderhawk kit!

  • Severius_Tolluck

Doesn’t quite look like a feather unless it got wet. that certainly is a wild card. Well narrow it down by what you know is roughly to come out down the pipeline. Is it something for Necromunda, AoS, or WH40K? I’d imagine it leans more AoS not only due to aesthetics, but also due to lack of releases on that front lately. Looking at it closely it does appear to be painted already and is in gray scale. It also appears to have a purity seal behind it or at least some sort of scroll. But could be a complete wild card like Amazons for Bloodbowl XD.

    • Muninwing

peacock feathers get like that after just a bit of use… the individual featherlets spread out.

  • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

    Dark Elf Pirate.

  • Anasa

Kroot Mercenary Shaper with peacock DNA. I’m calling it.

  • ashikenshin

    old ones for 40k

  • Son_of_Corax_XIX

Quick anything we need anything with feathers, post a picture up

  • Jonathan Ellsworth

nah, probably more Chaos or Sigmarines

  • Andrew Mailes

underwater plant looking. Maybe suction cup, like on a squid?,Dark Elf maybe?

  • Chris Hateley

    It’s a space marine.

  • Pl4gu3 B4st4rd

    Tzeentch daemon ?

  • Hagwert

I think it’s that Lord Helmwar guy who runs the hive on Necromunda because judging by the old confrontation art work he’s a pretty ostentatious kind of fella !

  • MacFly

Looks like a suction cup on the end. A tentacle of some sorts would be my guess. Or some weird plant for a upcoming Tyranid base.

  • AEZ

I think it’s Greyfax sunday hat with a peacock feather. She deserves a night out.

  • I_am_Alpharius

Something in a shade of Elfin.

  • Horus Lupercal

    Scribes feather

  • spla5hmummy

It’s a feather boa. Clearly from the new plastic sisters of battle kit. Expect matching hand bags.
