These devils, demons, archfiends, and their disciples will offer you power beyond compare…for a price.

Specifically, that price is $44.99 for a hardcover or $9.99 for a pdf. Because that’s the price of the book. Look just because some kind of demon lord is trying to make a deal with you doesn’t mean it’ll cost your soul–they’ll take money too.

After all, look at this guy–he can’t even afford a shirt.

Actually they’ll take a variety of options, which, incidentally is what you’ll get when you pick up this book. Even if Pathfinder isn’t your primary system for RPGs, there’s a ton of useful stuff. Book of the Damned is a roundup of all the extraplanar evils you could want, from the big ones like the archdevils and demon lords, as well as the powers they provide to their disciples.

Within the book’s fiendish pages you’ll find a writeup on the fiendish heavy-hitters, which I use as a great source for inspiration for my own games. Sure it’s tied to the Golarion setting in Pathfinder, but the authors do a fantastic job of leaving it open-ended enough that it’s easy to adapt them to whatever. The mechanics aren’t tied to the lore, and vice versa–though you can get some pretty good inspiration out of that. There are a ton of new spells (and I’ve taken two of them for my own purposes).

But if Pathfinder *is* your main system, then absolutely, you wanna grab this book. It has a lot to offer any GM or player. I’m a particular fan of magic items and artifacts that come with a hidden price–but the price is almost kinda worth it in the short term. And there are some amazing examples of that. It doesn’t always have to be, ‘this weapon is obviously evil’ sometimes it’s about introducing a benefit and then…having the cost happen a little later.

At any rate, you get new monsters, new spells, and new realms to explore. If you’re a Pathfinder Subscriber, you already have this, but if not, here you go:

Abandon All Hope!

As long as mortals have feared what awaits them after death, the threat of damnation has loomed. Powerful fiendish lords rule the deepest, darkest reaches of the Great Beyond: archdevils, demon lords, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and more. Such is the power of their evil that even angels cannot resist it—when one servant of Heaven cataloged all the evil in existence in the Book of the Damned, Heaven’s judges doomed him to exile, appalled at what he had wrought. And now you hold those horrors in your hands!

Pathfinder RPG Book of the Damned explores the evil planes and their fiendish rulers as they exist in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. This imaginative tabletop game builds upon more than 10 years of system development and an open playtest featuring more than 50,000 gamers to create a cutting-edge RPG experience that brings the all-time best-selling set of fantasy rules into a new era.

Pathfinder RPG Book of the Damned includes:

    • Descriptions for dozens of archdevils, demon lords, Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and other fiendish divinities, including the foul boons they grant to their most devoted followers.
    • Explorations of otherworldly fiendish realms, including the infernal reaches of Hell, the death-haunted expanses of Abaddon, and the nightmare depths of the Abyss.
    • Several brand-new monsters to fill out the ranks of all 11 of the fiendish races, from sinister classics such as demons and devils to new favorites like asuras and sahkils.

New blasphemous rituals, magic items, powerful artifacts, and spells to arm your villains with or for heroes to discover and defy.

  • Three fiend-focused prestige classes, ready to vex and terrify adventurers who dare stand against their plots.

  • An extensive collection of in-world excerpts from the sinister pages of the Book of the Damned itself.

  • … and much, much more!

Also, I feel like it goes without saying that reading this book makes you irrevocably evil. That’s just in the fine print for any RPG book though.
