What Eldar release are you most excited about?

  • Talos2

Dice are a bit dull after the nurgle ones

    • Navaren

Actually a couple of my Nurgle Dice broke after a few uses. Easy enough to fix with the old bottle of loctite but still solid dice are better overall.

    • Mr.Gold

At least they get dice, poor AdMech…

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

Happy about that. There are people that will not let people use the Nurgle dice because they are so different.

      • Talos2

That’s just a great way of finding out your opponent is a douche before even setting up, saving time

    • zeno666

      Look-wise yes, play-wise, no 🙂

    • Gunther Clone C

At least no one got screwed on the special image as bad as the Nids did…

  • Snord

I don’t play Eldar, and don’t plan to. But the apparent lack of new models accompanying this codex is really poor. Surely the Eldar deserve plastic Aspects now.

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

Only Space Marines and Deathguard have gotten models with their codex releases. All other models released are just models from box sets that were not repackaged into clam packs (Eldrad, Cawl, Grey Knight Guy, etc.).

    • I_am_Alpharius

Is this really a surprise? It has been evident since the Grey Knights and Chaos Space Marine codex’s. It has repeatedly been mentioned on WH-Tv Twitch and WH-Com articles that GW intention is to publish full Codex’s for every army, as fast as possible.

So far we’ve had a Codex, roughly, every two weeks. I would imagine this trend will continue throughout 2018. I wouldn’t take it as gospel, but it was alluded, that if an army has a section in an Index then they will be getting a Codex; although I would imagine somethings will double up e.g. Custodies and Sisters of Silence. What this means is that the majority of armies won’t be getting “new” kits. Instead most armies will be getting releases of models previously available in themed boxes (ala Eldrad) and/or getting additional units added that utilise existing kits (ala GK Grand Masters in Dreadknights).

If I were to guess, I would say at least one army a quarter will be getting a set of fresh models. Sisters of Battle are a prime candidate, as are Custodies/Sisters of Silence. I could see Thousand Sons getting some fleshing out ala Deathguard (so Vehicles/Characters); and finally Genestealer Cults have plenty of scope to add stuff to (I want to say limos baby! but I would imagine more industrial machinery type stuff makes more sense). The odd army may get something like one or two SM/CSM Primarch kit or Chaos Demons getting a Great Unclean One.

      • LankTank

        Hahahaha a GC Limo XD
Will the models all be wearing Kanye West glasses as well?

        • Ari Varey

It was an actual model. Look it up.

          • LankTank

            Mother of god!
            Yes this back YES!

  • Drpx

New dice before new models, lewl.

  • I_am_Alpharius

Interesting choice with the design of the Aspect dice to use the Aspects symbol of every face. Very neat; although some of the numbers are going to be tough to read at a glance. Seem to have a nice finish and tone of colour.

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

The only one that will be an issue – IMO – are the Banshees, as the number is buried in the symbol.

      • You can still tell what number it i though, so does this matter?

        • Red_Five_Standing_By

If they dice were normal sized, I would agree. But these are small dice.

Just saying it is going to be the hardest to read of the bunch since the number will be the smallest of the lot and inside of pictures.

You can still read it, sure, but all of the other dice make that job easier.

          • I_am_Alpharius

The dice aren’t that small. They’re 12mm which is a pretty standard size; and a size GW has used for yonks for D6.

          • Oh, okay.

  • piglette

    I like that cat.

    • It’s a Gyrinx. It’s been in 40k for longer than the Necrons.

    • zeno666

Yeah, I want a unit of those

      • ZeeLobby

        Kitten Swarm!

        • zeno666

          They’re the Mew’dar 😛

  • phobosftw

For all the dudes complaining about the absence of new models for everyones favorite resin army; the bonesinger is a re-release, yes, BUT he comes with a datasheet entry for the first time ever.. #this gon b gud

  • ZeeLobby

Just don’t get why GW is so against simple 6 sided dice with symbols on the 6. Why do they have to make it so complicated.

    • zeno666

Because everyone else make those dice.
And when GW have made up their mind about things, it takes years to change it (just look at the BS and WS stats, it took 8 editions to change it)

  • Ryan Miller

Admech need dice! And a flier and a transport and a low and a tank

    • zeno666

They will get overpowered stuff from FW.

    • Spade McTrowel

Admech will get a tow-truck to transport transports. Still can’t get into a transport being transported, though 🙂

  • Rayna M. McCowan

I am tempted by the new start collecting box, except I already have a Farseer. IDK, maybe I’ll just paint them up as a twin of my current one if I do get it. Or sell it. But that is a dang good bit of value right there.

  • How does one read the Banshee dice from more than 30cm away?

  • dynath

The plague marine dice were so cool. I was hoping the eldar dice would be similar. Like a scrimshaw bone material with the numbers in translucent gems. something cooler than just engraving eldar runes in dull plastic.

  • Corsair6

GW seems to be getting into the custom dice. Look at the new Shadspire dice. The mechanic could be covered with a d6, but instead went for custom icons (sort of like FFG has with all their games). Why let other companies make money on dice for your games? GamesWorkshop is starting to act more like a game company and less like that Warhammer company. I like it.
