The Plague Marines are finally out – so what do you think? Were they worth the wait?

  • Navaren

I’ll be buying a squad to do the melee troopers anyway but I won’t decide if its worth the wait until we see the sprues.

  • DoctorBored

About time. Wheres the myphitic blight hauler though? Is it really going to be on a release of its own? I mean, even though this is plague marines, this is still 4 different kits.

    • I_am_Alpharius

It would seem so. I’m starting wondering now it there will be gap of a month (or two) and GW will have the kit come out at the same time as a ‘Start Collecting’ box. Heck, maybe GW will have it in that set first before releasing it as an individual kit….

      • Ben_S

I doubt they’d put it in a discounted bundle before a full price release.

    • LankTank

It is really strange… There has only been 1 photo at all of this model. And it’s not even in a star position but tucked into the background.
Even follow up photos of the Death Guard in its entirety don’t have it again?
And it seems so strange that they would release that model all by itself as we now have every other DG unit available?
It’s like they accidentally slipped it and now want to get rid of it. Or as though it’s a conversion from the Bloat Drone.

  • Commissar Molotov

It’s a little too AoS-y for me. I like the older pickelhaube iteration better that’s not so cutesey and baroque.

  • Orangecoke

Ok this has bugged me for a while so I want to get it off my chest: these are preorders – “released” or “out now” in retailing means you can walk into the store today, buy them and take them home. So these are “now available for preorder”.

  • memitchell

That they came half price in a starter set was amazing. The starter set Easy Builds were not a bad price. The whole line of Plague Marines are great models! They are over-the-top, but in a good Nurgle way. And, easy enough to paint to a high table-top standard. What more could you ask for?

    • eMtoN

I agree. I’ve had fun painting all the new models

    • 415Native

Yeah, this new line of Plague marines is a joy to paint and model. Conversions are pretty easy, and bits from the starter set are cheap and plentiful on ebay.

    • Not having to buy a separate box for a Ten-man squad.

      • LankTank

Nurgle comes in 7’s. Running 10 just means you are playing wrong anyway

    • Spacefrisian

Its Nurgle, paintskills arent needed, i painted some years ago and they got instant praise…And those were garbage style painted, and i mean real garbage style with some spots with a thick layer of paint.

    • LankTank

The one thing I would ask is a 5 fingered Power Fist rather than all the stupid 4 fingered ones. AND IT’S IN THE BOX! Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahahhhhhhh boooooiiiiiii

  • MightyOrang

They’re overwrought with too much bling. FW sculpts are still better IMHO.

And stop making Nurgle funny. It’snot.

    • generalchaos34

Why not? He’s always had a peculiar style about him being Grandfather Nurgle, spreading his gifts, and his great love for all his children. “Nurgle loves you!” Plus the nurglings have always had that silly playfulness, in the lore they are usually playing in someones intestines and are childish in appearance. Also a rictus smile is a real consequence of disease

      • generalchaos34

Not to mention farting and belching is an actual part of their powers

      • MightyOrang

Chaos is supposed to be scary. Terrifying. Like mind numbing horror.

Instead the Nurgle champion has his own Salacious B Crumb.

I don’t like it. No, Sir, I don’t like it at all.

        • generalchaos34

Whats more terrifying than a villain who chooses to take amusement and fun out of your suffering? Would mr blonde from resevoir dogs, american psycho, or It wouldnt be more horrifying or memorable if they werent having fun whilst torturing their victims?

          • MightyOrang

In both cases that’s not ‘funny’ – that’s a sadism applied to the villain.

But Maybe I should have said cartoony. He looks cartoony to me with their little dude in a helmet.

            Agree to disagree, I guess.

  • LankTank

The Plague Champion who comes in the actual box (not the Nurgling Helmet one) has a 5 fingered Powerfist! THANK THE PLAGUE GOD! Buying purely because of that!
