White Dwarf Leaked – Upcoming Release Dates/Photos

Take a look at some of the new releases that are around the corner, as seen in the upcoming White Dwarf.

Spotted over at miniwars, we’ve got a look at what’s coming up from GW, including the Tyranid Collector’s Edition Codex and prices, the new ruins terrain, Necromunda gangs, and more. November’s going to be a great month for building up your tabletop from the look of things. Grab some terrain, grab some Tyranids, and some Necromunda Gangers and you’ll have all the makings of an Imperial world that is doomed to fall before the might of the Great Devourer. No doubt an all-too common scene with the impending release of their Codex.

First up we have a look at some of the upcoming STC Ruins as well as what looks to be repackaged Shadow World Armageddon Terrain. But there’s still more terrain coming this month, check it out:

We’ve got the Citadel of the Everchosen, the Ruins of Elixia, Outpost Pythos IV, and the Hive Shield here, and though the picture quality isn’t the greatest, you can see that there’s a lot going on. The Elixian Ruins in particular, look like a great either Age of Sigmar OR weird mystic alien world terrain set.

But the big one that everyone’s excited about is, of course, the Tyranid Codex. We know it’s coming next Sunday–here’s a little more information about it, along with a look at some of the tactica of the Tyranids.

That Metabolic Overdrive strategy seems like it could be a pretty useful tool to add to your army. Moving along to the safety (hah) of an Imperial Hive World though, let’s take a look at some of the releases for Necromunda.

So there you have it. Necromunda is coming the 11th, everything else is going down come the 4th–two big weeks ahead of us folks, and we’ll be sure to cover all of this as it develops, so be sure and stay tuned for more news and updates.

The Tyranid Codex is actually just a massive bug report.

  • Mr.Gold

    d**n, I hoped that I was done spending money for a while…
those sector mechanicus additions are too cool to pass up, and necromunda has been on the to-buy list for so long…

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I concur. I wonder what the Promethium Refinery set is?

  • DoctorBored

I’m more interested in what comes next. What’s after Necromunda? What’s hiding in December that we don’t know about yet? What’s coming in January that everyone’s been so hush hush about?

    • J Mad

Chapter Approve and Christmas bundles most likely the only things.

    • Please be Adeptus Titanicus, please oh please

      • Griffin

GW already said titanicus isnt coming out this year….

        • Won’t stop me hoping though 😉 Forlorn hopes are the best! 😛

  • Thedinosaur

“what looks to be repackaged Shadow World Armageddon Terrain”

there’s not much right with that sentence…

    • Graeme

I agree. None of these sets that are being released are in the original Shadow War Armageddon boxed game.

      • Thedinosaur

perhaps they were in this Shadow World game though…

      • Massawyrm

There’s four sets, not three – one of them named “Promethium Refinery.” In addition, the Thermic Plasma Regulators use some of the Refinery “Shadow War” bits, and they may have mistaken for entirely repackaged terrain.

  • carlisimo

That’s interesting – Necromunda’s pricing, the main box only, doesn’t screw over Australia and New Zealand nearly as much usual. NZ and the US both pay about the same at current rates, and Australia a little less. We all pay more than the British do (quite a bit more, especially if you subtract UK VAT and add sales tax in the US) but it’s a better deal than usual for the antipodes.

The other items are priced as usual.

    • Thedinosaur

Being in AUS, i’m sure it’ll be a misprint 😛
if not, hopefully a sign of things to come!!

  • Xodis

New terrain and new tools were mentioned. I want it all lol

  • Grenville_Stickwood

Interesting, 2 week pre-order for Necromunda.

    • Dooms Day

probable to save them selves from another Shadow war incident.

  • benn grimm

Nice, seperate gang boxes from the get go, feel like I’ve been waiting a lifetime for these, can’t wait to get my hands on them.

    • EnTyme

Surprised me, too. Now I don’t have to buy the Goliaths to get my Eschers! I figured I’d have to wait at least six months to buy the gangs separately.

  • Hey look necromunda is 150$, that person(shall remain nameless) owes me an apology.

    • DoctorBored

All those people telling me “GW’s board games are affordable just like other games!” can now shut their yaps.

      • memitchell

Hate to agree, but that’s a might pricey for a game with 20 models (not counting the plastic terrain bits). For the same price, Calth and Prospero have (37 and 45 respectively). I guess we do have to count the plastic terrain bits.

        • euansmith

Are there plastic terrain bits in the box? I thought it was 2D cardboard Zone Mortalis in the box, plus part of the box printed up as terrain.

          • Tshiva keln

There are a few bulkhead bits but not sure what they were made of. Probably card.

          • euansmith

The old card and plastic terrain was genius, I think it is a shame they’ve not gone down that route again.

          • Severius_Tolluck

Sadly Cardstock is now more expensive then plastic to print. With the art assets and all. True bummer. Moore’s Law and all that.

          • euansmith

            Wow!

          • Muninwing

i really wish there was a decent set of skirmish terrain sets that had the adaptibility to 3d that would make such a game work best.

there was one… terraclips? one of my Malifaux-obsessed friends loved them. maybe that combined with some GW stuff would work best?

          • I_am_Alpharius

Plastic and they are also going to be available separately on the same day Necromunda comes out.

    • Muninwing

it’s $125USD, which is exactly where i assumed it would be. a bit much for what it seems to be, but still in the reach of what i’d consider.

  • BrassWitch

Man, no heresy plastics this year? that’s sad.

    • DoctorBored

What else could they release? They already have space marines and terminators in old marks of armor.

      • And dreadnoughts, silent baldies and golden turds…etc.

      • Tshiva keln

It’s 30k. Sure they have marines and terminators but you’re clearly forgetting they could also release marines. And, er, terminators! Seriously though you could have close combat, boarding shields, etc. Things to further bulk out the plastic range and make it more accessable.

        • euansmith

          Plastic Solar Auxilia..?

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I’d buy that for a dollar!

      • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

breachers and assault marines are the obvious candidates for plastics.

      • BrassWitch

Maybe some bikes? Some MK V units? I’m happy with what we have now, but still some more plastic dudes would be nice.

      • eMtoN

        Thunderhawk….

    • I_am_Alpharius

The HH games were only done to support/justify the investment in the plastic frames that were primarily produced to provide FW with some core plastic kit for them to produce upgrade kits for. Designing and casting only arms, shoulder pads and weapons is far more efficient and cost effective for FW. Which fundamentally leads to more profit.

  • SacTownBrian

Does anyone know what the Battle Journals are?

    • Dooms Day

a book for you to write down how you did in battles

      • zeno666

Please tell me thats a joke

        • I_am_Alpharius

Pretty much what @disqus_CICQpjLqQ9:disqus said. So people can record things like VP, CP, Spell effects etc….write down notes of things that when well and not so well. Its a ‘fun’ (loosely) xmas focused item.

        • Muninwing

the joke is that if GW creates anything like that, it should be online and integratable with other tools.

surviving the changing times is not about making the hobby more like a video game. it’s about making the hands-on traditional hobby integrate with new tech-based tools.

  • Fergie0044

Plasma terrain!!! Happy days getting me some of that!

  • marlowc

Am I right in thinking this is just the one-off skirmish version of Necromunda for £75? We have to pay another £25 (?) for the campaign book in order to actually play this game properly??
I don’t think I’ve ever played a one-off game, the gang building is the whole heart and soul of this masterpiece isn’t it.

    • Tshiva keln

Does anyone know if the the campaign book will have normal rules in it? I doubt it but I can dream, right? If it did you would only need that and a gang to play a “proper” game of necromunda and could ignore the box set.

      • marlowc

Sadly, you would also need the non-standard dice, and possibly the templates as well 🙁

        • EnTyme

Hopefully they’ll release gang-themed dice shortly like they did with warband dice in Shadespire.

      • I_am_Alpharius

        Gang War contains the following:
        – Rule for playing interacting with 3D terrain.
        – Introduces rules for Juves and Specialists.
        – Contains full Gang list for Goliath and Eschers
        – Rules for progression of Gangs between games.
        – 6 additional scenarios.
        – Rules for campaigns (inc. advancement and skills charts and wound charts for veteran warriors)
        – Traders for buying new weapons.
        – Rules for mining holdings to produce credits.
        – and apparently much more…

    • I_am_Alpharius

Gang War is £17.50. Core game contains six basic missions and rules for the 2D ‘Mortalis’ rules.

      • marlowc

That seems very reasonable – many thanks.

  • Rainthezangoose

Very disappointed with the pricing on Necromunda.

    • marlowc

Yes, it’s a bit steep isn’t it. Tempted to just get a new Goliath gang and carry on playing our old Necromunda 🙁
If not, it may be possible to pick up the starter and campaign book from independent suppliers like Wayland Games, or Triple Helix for a healthy discount?

      • Rainthezangoose

        Yeah honestly really disappointed.

    • zeno666

I’ll wait for the rulebook PDF instead

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

agreed. No full release including rules is dumb. Won’t bother myself.

  • frankelee

It’s sad, but you can get so much more value, and so much more fun, spending your money with companies other than GW.
