Versatile and deadly, the Star Wing makes its X-Wing debut in Wave XII with the Alpha-class Star Wing Expansion Pack!

Having originally appeared in the Star Wars: X-Wing computer game by LucasArts, the Star Wing quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its impressive array of lasers, ion cannons, missiles, and torpedoes. These made it a true threat to Rebels everywhere, and the Star Wing was one of the few Imperial starfighters to boast its own hyperdrive and deflector shields.

The Star Wing isn’t the most maneuverable ship in the Imperial Fleet. However, it’s got some tricks to get around the fact that it has no K-Turn (it’s got the SLAM action more on that below). It tops out with a 4 straight red maneuver as well. It’s also only running with 4 green maneuvers – just a heads up to all you pilots out there…

Pilot Cards

You basic ship clocks in at 18 points bare-bones. It’s got a couple weapon upgrade slots and some nice actions to choose from including a SLAM action and the new reload action.

Lieutenant Karsabi combo’s very nicely with the SLAM action. In exchange for one stress you can remove the weapon’s disabled token generated and get a shot off instead. There are also some other tricks to assist with that as well. In addition to costing 24 points and a 3 point jump in Pilot Skill, you’re also getting an EPT slot which could come in handy.

Major Vynder also plays into the Weapons Disabled tricks. If you are SLAMing around, you’ll get a boost to your defenses as well. He’s PS 7 and comes in at 26 points along with that EPT slot.

Title Cards

The XG-1 Assault Configuration nets you 2 cannon slots. In addition, for only 1 point, you can fire cannons that cost 2 or fewer points even if you have a weapons disabled token!

The OS-1 Aresnael Loadout nets you more torpedo and missile slots. For 2 points, it allows you to perform attacks with those upgrades on ships you have locked – even when you’re carrying a weapons disabled token!

Upgrades

The Linked Battery card allows you to simply reroll 1 attack die for a primary or secondary cannon weapon.

Jamming Beam is a new cannon that assigns the target 1 jam token. The question I have is what type of jam we using – Raspberry, Grape, or Strawberry?

And finally Saturation Salvo – this one is …interesting. It’s a good way to “spray and pray” with your torpedo and missile secondary attacks. The more expensive they are the more ships they can theoretically hit. I we’ll see if this one gets a lot of action or not. Combined with the right type of missiles/torpedoes and you could cause some of those faster ships some extra damage.

Alpha-class Star Wing Expansion Pack $14.95

The first widely deployed Imperial starfighter to boast shields and a hyperdrive, the Alpha-class Star Wing had limited maneuverability, but was heavily armed for its size. The fighter remains impressively durable and destructive in X-Wing™, where its two agility, four hull, and three shields are paired with the ability to unleash cascading torrents of missile and cannon fire. The Star Wing’s pre-painted miniature is accompanied by four ship cards, seven upgrades, one maneuver dial, reference cards for the reload action and jam tokens, and all the plastic and tokens you need to fly the ship to battle.
