Accept no Imitations – The Tabletop Spotlight is on The Thing Infection at Outpost 31!

Our Friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over a game I’ve been waiting on since we learned about it at GenCon 50 – The Thing Infection at Outpost 31 is now available!

Now our Board Game Guru Matt covered The Thing in pretty good detail already, so I won’t re-hash that here. But I will say that mechanically it’s a “Betrayal” style game where one (or more) players are “the thing” trying to get out of the outpost and on to the Helicopter. One of the mechanics I personally really like about this game is that “The Thing” player(s) ALSO want to get out of this place so in a strange way they are working with the normal people. So it really amps up the “who can you trust” aspect of the game.

Component wise this is a pretty impressive set of things. You’ll get 12 characters to play as, 4 of the 3 different classes, and each character has it’s own model and card. Plus the Board is really cool looking and has that “isolated in the Arctic” feel that the movie had. I love the color palette they used as well – really good stuff!

We got to check it out at GenCon 50 as well – and we’re glad it’s finally out and in stores! I’m really pushing to get this one played on our Board Game Bonaza Twitch Stream on Tuesdays as well. The Thing Infection at Outpost 31 is out and now available in stores – so go pick it up!

The Thing Infection at Outpost 31

An alien lifeform has infiltrated a bleak and desolate Antarctic research station assimilating other organisms and then imitating them. In the hidden identity game The Thing™ Infection at Outpost 31, you will relive John Carpenter’s sci-fi cult classic in a race to discover who among the team has been infected by this heinous lifeform.

Play as one of 12 characters as you lead a series of investigations through the facility using supplies and equipment to clear the building. The tension mounts and paranoia ensues as you question who you can trust in the ultimate race to save humanity!

Why don’t we just wait here for a little while, see what happens…
