Tyranid Codex Review Deep Dive – FTN

We get pretty deep into the Tyranids again this episode.  We focus more on the tactics side but still find time to highlight some of the cool new units.

In the middle of the show we have an interview with the amazing author Guy Haley!!

Hey All,

We get pretty deep into the Tyranids again this episode.  We focus a little more on the tactics side this episode but still find time to highlight some of the cool new unit stats.

In the middle of the episode we do an our long spot with Rob Symes from the Honest Wargamer.  We talk a bit about Age of Sigmar and the mission he’s taken up with his new venture.  I had a great time speaking with him.

Warzone Atlanta is this weekend.  We’ve run this tournament three years now and it continues to grow and be a destination event for our attendees.  We are incredibly happy to invite you to join our coverage on YouTube and Facebook.

The Finishing Moves segment is sponsored by Frontline Gaming. Their new mats are now hot off the presses and getting ready to be shipped. Please check them out, even if you already have a game mat. Their new styles are very impressive. If you haven’t already get your tickets NOW for the mega Las Vegas Open.

Ohh my goodness.. I have let everyone down but I PROMISE hobby content on the stream this weekend.  Please tune in!

FTN mostly focuses on Warhammer 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you.

laughed so hard i almost cried when you guys talked about the “tyranid guy/player” rattling off biomorph names and stuff only to see other players eyes glass over not knowing what I’m talking about.

I’m that guy and have been for years.

Also and I don’t mean this negatively but I think the behemoth trait is good, but I feel like your panel thinks it’s GREAT(you guys had a lot of enthusiasm/focus on it).

I learned firsthand yesterday(played two games back to back), hive fleet kraken is where it’s at.

Playing a horde heavy, flyrant assisted primarily aggressive CC force, being able to behave like harlequins and take my big blobs of stealers, disengage, then re-assault things was invaluable.

You’re certainly right about hive fleet kronos’ stratagem to force powers on 1 die being insanely good. I took kraken and kronos(anything without guns was kraken, anything with was kronos, 2 squads of hive guard occasionally using the stratagem to make them shoot twice since it can only affect infantry not monstrous).

But the point being playing against death guard I was able to consistently kick their psychic game in the teeth while bearing down an inordinate amount of aggression.

Quick point on that stratagem for psyker denial is you trigger it from kronos models. RAW you could deep strike a spore mine and trigger the stratagem if it’s near your enemy(so long as it’s kronos).

But yeah man, tyranids are GOOD. I wonder if they’ll have the same “bugs are good because chaos is popular” sort of boon GK gets(just because chaos is psyker heavy generally and man. The shadow in the warp is real).

Loved this episode. Seriously boss work.

Love me some nids. Hate me some Daemons. Hive fleet Kronos is just what the Norn Queen ordered.

Also we may or may not be building some kind of psycho drive in the Tiamat system. please don’t go there. Hive fleets have been dispatched to answer all your questions and are coming to a planet near you!

Anyone else think it weird that this happy nid warrior has integrated human skulls into his biological symbiant weapon….apparently we have pride now and like to show off our trophies.

Oh yeah, not sure how I feel about that; seems kind of dumb.

Nids are about to take over 8th edition, insanely strong and a huge variety of ways to build great armies. There are a half dozen undercosted units in the index, i feel the same way i did when i read my eldar codex in 7th and every other unit was a top 10 unit in the entire game.

Don’t usually listen to these guys but love Nids. Great episode. I got a chuckle with warhammer Rob calling out “WAAC” types and the host squirming to counter and justify that nonsense – certainly one of the highlights.

The Nid content was good though, I’d give these guys another listen.
