Warhammer 40K

This week, the Black Library brings us a tale of the Custodian Guard and the Horus Heresy.

If you’ve been waiting to get caught-up on your fill of Black Library back-stories and lore then now is the time of year to jump in. Running from December 1st until December 24th, Black Library will have something to read, listen to, or just check out for all things Games Workshop. You can grab them individually or pick up the whole thing as part of the Advent Calendar Subscription.

Today’s story is all about the remnants of the Custodian Guard trying to clean up the mess left behind by the Webway War. They don’t even have the tools they need to handle things on Terra as they prepare for Horus’ assault. But maybe, they can find what they need to sweep his forces aside and take out the trash, proving themselves worthy of the name: Custodian Guard.

Devastated from the Webway War, the remnants of the Custodian Guard prepare for the coming of Horus. But as they rearm and adapt to their changed circumstances, conflict brews with the Imperium’s Lord Commander…

READ IT BECAUSE
He’s written about them in the 41st Millennium, and now Chris Wraight is tackling the Custodian Guard during the Heresy in a tale that shows them finding their place in a war-wracked Imperium.

THE STORY
The Webway War is over, the Custodian Guard devastated by the daemonic hordes that flooded the lower reaches of the Imperial Palace. Constantin Valdor, commander of the Emperor’s Guard, stands at the head of his fellows, but in conflict with the Lord Commander of the Imperium, the primarch Rogal Dorn. And it is not the first time Valdor, the Emperor’s magisterium, has found himself pitted against a primarch. His memories of Prospero are all too fresh…

The Custodian Guard is also really good at locking things up and being the last ones out.
