FW: New Nazgul Miniature Marches To War

Khamûl the Easterling, the mighty Nazgul, has been unveiled by Forge World!

Evil players you’re getting a new miniature to add to your forces! Khamûl the Easterling is coming to aid the forces of the Sauron!

via Warhammer Community

Khamûl the Easterling is perhaps the most noteworthy of the Nazgul outside of the Witch King of Angmar himself. Did you know, for example, that he’s the only Ringwraith, apart from the aforementioned Witch King, named by Tolkien in the books? And did you know that, in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the Ringwraith that hunts Frodo at the beginning of the story is Khamûl? Indeed, following the death of his superior, Khamûl the Easterling would go on to lead the Nazgûl at the Battle of the Black Gate.

Khamûl the Easterling’s latest miniature depicts him as he appears during The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies™. In this incarnation, he’s clad in ornate armour similar to that worn by the other Easterlings and should look right at home with the rest of your Nazgûl.

This Ringwraith is headed to the Forge World site next year! Khamûl the Easterling would make a great companion with the new Middle Earth Battle Companies book now available from Games Workshop for all you Hobbit fans out there:

Middle-earth Battle Companies $40

An expansion for the Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game, this 80-page hardback allows you to assemble a small warband and, over the course of many linked games, watch as its members gain experience, learn skills and become battle-hardened.

The Nine Kings with their Rings of Power…

  • thereturnofsuppuppers

    bit rubbish

  • ILikeToColourRed

his legs are far too short :/

    • Rainthezangoose

I don’t think I agree, its just not hero-scale which we are used to from Warhammer, Its part of the reason for my long time love of the BSG.

      • ILikeToColourRed

“average” people have their legs about the same length as their torso and waist combined

unless hes on his knees, this guys arms are longer than his legs

    • Carey_Mahoney

Maybe he’s more Halfling than Easterling.

    • shabbadoo

He just got off his flying reptile thing, and hasn’t finished growing yet! Gosh!

  • ZeeLobby

    def dwarfish.

  • SilentPony

Hobbit is still a game?! My local GW took them all off the shelves years ago. I haven’t seen a painted model in person in…I think ever?

    • Matthew Pomeroy

the whole line is mail order only now, all GW’s should have sent their stocks back. My local GW told me that when it happened (havent bought anything from GW since, except lotr/hobbit online)

    • Powers Wartman

Yep, with a rather large player base. We had one of the larger events at NOVA this year. Also tournaments at Adepticon, and several others.

  • Kritarion

    Very stout Nazgul

  • Grenville_Stickwood

Without context I would have that this was a mini from the late 90s. Kinda sad when a new mini looks like it needs an update already.

    • Ghachii

Forge World do seem to be struggling with this scale. Everything they’ve released looks like a downgrade from the quality that GW’s LotR line enjoyed at its height. And yet the miniatures are more expensive than ever.

      • Powers Wartman

are you joking? have you seen the releases in person? The iron hills are incredible sculpts.

  • Rainthezangoose

I quite like the sculpt but I feel like his old miniature still looks great and frankly there is a lot of other stuff stuff I’d have liked to have seen the FW team work on!

    • I_am_Alpharius

It to represent Khamul as seen in the Hobbit films in Dol Guldur.

      • Powers Wartman

Yep, they have a new profile in There and Back Again

  • Drew

I love the GW Lord of the Rings line (that and Guild Ball are my favorite games ever), but I don’t love this fig…the arms are definitely a bit too long and a bit too bulky.

Still, glad to see the dream of Middle Earth lives on. I’ll probably pick it up to keep supporting FW’s efforts! =)

    • I_am_Alpharius

Still turns over a tidy sum for GW. Hence why, they’ve kept the licence going. There is a relatively large hub of hobbyist that love all things Lord of the Rings.

      • Matthew Pomeroy

I am one of those guys, and these minis are great for cubicle 7’s 1 ring rpg

  • MMO Builder

This can’t be a digital sculpt surely? LotR used to be a much less heroic scale. I hope they correct this before release.

  • dave long island

    Looks amateurish.

  • Vepr

It is not a terrible sculpt but does not appear up to par compared to most FW work. Maybe if the pose was just a little more dynamic?

  • Carey_Mahoney

Space Marine Battle Companies in LotR confirmed!

  • I_am_Alpharius

Seems to me that it is the paint job that is not showing off the model in the best light – which doesn’t smack as sensible. Guess, FW will be doing Ringwraith sculpts for the 9 as they are seen in the Hobbit film.

  • Coltcabunny

That mace is made of heresy.

  • MKG35

Maybe its the armour plates on his arms but they make the whole model look odd.

  • Matthew Pomeroy

Oh heck yeah!! I Am soooo in on this one 😀

  • Michael Linke

I prefer the existing (out of print?) Kamul. I’ll probably get this because I own all of the named wraiths already, and would want to keep that collection complete.

    • Powers Wartman

You’ll have 8 more to go, they’re doing all of the hobbit iterations

  • Rotten Deadite

So is this new book like Mordheim but without the awesome setting?

    • Powers Wartman

Are you implying that the fantasy work from which almost all other modern fantasy derives, which bridged european folklore and modern fiction writing, and without which Mordheim, and likely even the entire GW company is somehow not awesome? And no, its the same core rules, the only additions are for character/model progression and experience.

  • Sebastian Marrero

Looks like an outdated miniature, even if it’s new.
