Geekery: Jessica Jones is Back

The much anticipated second season has teaser filled with her signature sarcasm, and a release date.

The show’s first season won a Peabody Award, and is considered by many to be the best of the shows Marvel has done with Netflix. The second season has a lot to live up to – and the potential to bring back viewers that were turned off by Iron Fist and The Defenders.

It’s clear that something in her past is catching up with her and she’s going to have to deal with it. Trish is encouraging her to dig into her past, telling her that knowing what happened would be invaluable. That digging looks to include some fights, some drinking, and that dry sarcasm Jessica wears like a protective blanket.

This look is a little generic, but I’m sure we’ll get more plot hints before the series drops.

Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Eka Darville are back; and new cast members include Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez.

All 13 episodes of the second season drop on Netflix March 8th.

My girlfriend loves JJ! I quite liked her first season. Can’t wait.

I hope that Jessica Jones is going to be as greasy, unkempt and unhealthy as she was in the first season. She was a real breath of foul air in the representation of female super heroes. The baggy, grimy jeans were a great touch.

edit: darn, I was getting quite excited, until I read the release date.

My sister is obsessed with this show. But will she try out Punisher or Daredevil? Nope.

In fairness, Punisher’s a hard sell.

    • Talys1767 .

Punisher is quite good, imo, except it feels a bit drawn out. I prefer it to luke cage, defenders and iron fist. DD, JJ and Punisher are the winners, I think.

      • Drew

I didn’t like Punisher as much as the others (and I liked Luke Cage better than anything other than DD season 1 and JJ), but as long as it’s not called “Iron Fist” or “Inhumans”, I’m willing to give anything Marvel puts out a try. =)

Runaways is the latest Marvel show (on Hulu). So far, it nails the comic accurately and is fun to watch. The premise is one of the better ideas for a Marvel comic/show. I can’t believe there isn’t more praise for it online.

          Plus, Niko is a hottie.

Punisher is frankly the most grounded and deals with some heavy stuff: Grief, PTSD, Stolen Valor, Terrorism, Guns Rights, unchecked government power. I was a daredevil fanatic, but the Punisher has me hooked. If you look past the extreme violence it has some frank discussion on relevant modern topics without beating you over the head with one ideology over the other..
