Tabletop Gallery: “Welcome to the Astra Militarum”

And they say Bretonnia is dead… Poppycock!

Enjoy. If you have an awesome wargames shot you think would make a great BoLS pic of the day, email us. We love spectacle and characterful shots so lets see what you budding photographers can do! Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, X-Wing, Warmachine/Hordes, Runewars, Bolt Action, Armada & Flames of War miniatures photos are welcome.

The only thing keeping me away from Fantasy was that I was waiting for Bretonnia to get a plastic release. *sheds single manly tear*

The only thing keeping me away from fantasy is that it’s a dead system now.

      • piglette

Well I mean at the time.

At the moment I have 6 or 7 thousand points of Bretonnians, fantasy being killed made me grumpy. Tried AoS but didn’t care for the fact that its a skirmish system and various other things that are now being brought into current 40k.

I was already into fantasy, but I never bought any of the limited edition army books, nor any of the new release bundles.

After the Wood Elves got released, it was finally Bretonnia’s turn for an overall, and I was saving my cash for the Bretonnian limited edition army book and new plastic units…

…and then the End Times happened.

      *weeps uncontrollably*

The Lady hears and…oh wait she was just an elven trick. GW I kinda hate you.

You might get lucky, I managed to find the old Starter Army for a ridiculous price at a convention, gave me a great base for a Free Peoples Army in AoS. Just need a few Heroes.

  • euansmith

That’s a really cool looking army.

I hope that GW gets around to making some new “Free People”. I also hope that they don’t turn them in to something over the top and crazy.

40k has a bunch of nice kits available, like the Choas Cultists and Genestealer Cultists, that make great conversion fodder, but I would love to see a new set of something like the Bretonnians.

I think it is a shame North Star’s Frostgave and Oathmark minis are a little bit too small for grim dark conversion work.

Actually, I’d like the new Free People units to look very different. The only two really new and original factions for Age of Sigmar are the Stormcast and the Kharadron.

Every time I see “Nurgle Rotbringers” or “Seraphon” or “Orruks”, all I can think is “Get those things on square bases, and ranked up!”

The Mortal Realms will be much more interesting once they create new and original factions instead of press-ganging the old WHFB units into a world they don’t belong in.

If they look as cool as the Kharadron Overlords, I won’t complain. 😀
