Join the BoLS Crew as we run through the traits, stratagems, and relics of the Adeptus Custodes.

That’s right folks. Gather your golden gear, everyone’s favorite gilded guerillas are going gaga for their new rules. An elite army in every sense of the word, the Adeptus Custodes, as you might have seen, are some expensive fellows. But they have some pretty cool new toys that they bring with them. And with every model being multiwound, and having a base 2+ armor save, these guys are certainly going to put a beating on something. Today we’re going to take a look at some of the tricks and tools in their arsenal. And let me just add their arsenal seems pretty solid, even if they are always trying to walk it in.

As you can see, they have a lot to work with. Some of those Stratagems are cheap and let you get a lot of work done.

Seriously, an extra 1 to wound rolls is going to help make sure that every attack that hits (which, if you’re rerolling 1’s and hitting on 2’s, should be all of them) wounds stuff. It can even help them punch above their weight class, which is good, because there’s a lot of stuff they’ll have trouble with. Still, many fo their stratagems are a little more expensive.

Which, while pretty cool is also 3CP, and even if you take Trajann with his ability to recoup command points–you’re still not going to have very much. We’ve talked Custodes and Command Points before though, and that’s one of the problems in an elite, low-model count army.

What do you mean we cost as much as two elite units in other armies?

The Relics and Warlord Traits are similarly pretty cool. The Praetorian Plate in particular is really cool–it lets you designate an Imperium Character and teleport to their side in a fight phase, which can help you get your Custodes units where they need to be–helpful, because that’s a significant problem for the Custodes.

And if you want to see how all of this plays out for real, check out our Twitch Stream all next week where we’ll be bringing you three different games where the Custodes are center stage.

Thank you for being a friend.
