Geekery: The Animaniacs to Get a Revival on Hulu

2 Minute Read
Jan 6 2018

Members of Generation Y rejoice: Wacko, Yacko, and Dot are coming back in two new seasons on Hulu.

This is a reboot I can get behind. I used to come home from school excited to watch the antics of the Warner siblings, Pinky and The Brain, and the show’s cast of characters. It was perfect for a kid that whose sense of humor was shaped by Monty Python and Abbott and Costello. The series has unique sense of humor for a kids’ show that caters to both kids and their parents (my dad is a fan, too) that made it stand out in the 90s. The cast of characters parodied everything from Who’s on First to Apocalypse now and Goodfellas.

Its take on tackling educational topics in song has stuck with many of us till this day.  I bet you can still sing along with these…

Returning EP Steven Spielberg had this to say about the deal:

“I am so pleased and proud that Animaniacs will have a home at Hulu. Together with Warner Bros., we look to bring new audiences and longtime fans into this wild world of Yakko, Wakko and Dot. I am also excited that the full library of Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures episodes are included in the deal.”

The release date for the new seasons is set for some time in 2020. I really hope Jess Harnell, Rob Paulsen, and Tress MacNeille will be coming back – it won’t be the same without them. I’m also hoping we don’t get CG, Dream Works style animation.
