BREAKING: Genestealer Cult Gangs & New Terrain!

GW just confirmed Tau, new Age of Sigmar terrain and Genestealer Cult Gangs!  NICE!

We’ve already know that Daughters of Khaine is almost here and Tau rumors have been swirling.

GW has confirmed both for March and revealed the following:

Azyrite Ruins Terrain

New terrain kit for Age of Sigmar.  These look generically useful.  I like the treasure chests!

Genestealer Cult Gangs

We knew all those tyranid invasion hints in the Necromunda rulebook had to lead somewhere… NICE!

  • Severius_Tolluck

Is that realm of battle cardboard or neoprene?

    • Apocryphus

Heavy duty cardboard, if it’s anything like the 40k one.

  • Krijn van Alten

But will these genestealer cults get their own codex or not, that is what I realy wanne know!

  • Chris

Well, it’s official: AoS has the most generic looking terrain on the market.

    • YetAnotherFacelessMan

Considering I’ve felt like the previous AoS terrian was entirely too specific to have more than one piece of on the table… YAY! 😀

    • BrassWitch

Sure, because that WHFB terrain sure is unique looking. GW has always produced generic looking terrain kits, if anything the 40k ones are the ones that stand out due to how over the top they are.

      • Chris

Skullvane Manse was generic looking? Witchfate Tor? Dreadstone Blight? The Garden of Morr? Seriously? Any one of those pieces makes an awesome centrepiece for a board. All the fantasy terrain released under the AoS banner just looks bland and uncharacterful in comparison.

I just don’t see what’s so difficult about releasing a decent modular house kit that can be assembled in a number of ways. Do people not live in houses in Age of Sigmar Land? Does everyone just live in fields and huddle under whatever nondescript ancient ruins happen to be lying around?

        • Prospero 4life

Literally every single one of those kits is still around…. Quit looking for asinine reasons to complain

          • Chris

Wow, is there really any need to be jerk about it? I had no idea me wanting some decent looking new terrain was having such an impact on your life.

Yes, all the kits are still around. They’ve been around in my gaming room ever since I bought them all years ago.

I guess by your logic GW may as well just churn out bland looking models for the rest of their days and no-one should voice their dislike of it as long as they still keep the good looking ones around, right?

          • Alienerd the unbannable

Don’t call something generic when your username/ online alias is simply… Chris. Don’t call someone a jerk when you post an incredibly sassy comment to start the thread. You can even see by about 3 words into your comment the shoulder drop and finger click that you did as you typed it.

  • ZeeLobby

Walls ain’t bad. If a little 2D. They’re like 3D printer quality. Still a couple sets would make a cool ruined temple.

    • Matthew Pomeroy

good quality affordable terrain is always nice though too.

      • ZeeLobby

Have they announced prices yet? Some of their terrain is like a solid deal. Others can be meh.

  • euansmith

Hopefully GW will bring out a compilation of Necromunda stuff they publish in WD.

    • Griffin

Still waiting on a space hulk compilation… so i doubt it

  • Rasheed Jones

Those blue stormcasts on the Realm of Battle box honestly look like they’re made of candy…I kinda like it.

  • LankTank

Did you notice the new Tau cod… *Slaps*

    • Ragnar_Blackmane

  • LankTank

So… Was going to be buying orlock but instead guess I’ll be getting some Genestealer Cultists! =D

  • Ragnar_Blackmane

Dude A: “What should we put in the headline of this blog post?”
Dude B: “You know what all the guides say, the most important news”
Dude A: “So we got the Necromunda Jeanstealers covered, and we still have some space left, should we pick the official announcement of the new Tau codex that a huge amount of people have been waiting ages for, or the release of some random AoS terrain in there?”

    • Nyyppä

Yeah, they should have started with the important stuff and leave the Tau last.

  • Oggthrok

I can imagine the design brief for the AOS terrain: “It needs to be generic enough that it could be human or dwarf, with classical columns and stone design. And, most importantly, it should block no line of sight. I want this thing to be 90% windows people. I want empty arches with no impact on gameplay that anything smaller than a space marine dreadnought could march right through unobstructed.”

    • Chris Hilliard

Considering that most AoS terrain is area stuff, and that cover is applied if you are within the terrain, I’d say that’s a good thing. Especially since its a game that focuses on melee combat over ranged attacks.

  • Orangecoke

Terrain looks pretty good for Frostgrave players…

  • Sleeplessknight

I repeat, there is no proof of any Genestealer cult meddling in the ascension of Lord Helmawr to his position as governor.

    • memitchell

Yeah, that’s what they ALL say. Then, much yelling and screaming, and someone loses an eye.

  • Huntard

More terrain from GW that doesn’t actually work with GW terrain rules to do anything.

  • I wasn’t expecting to see a new terrain kit coming, but for me it’s just great news. I didn’t like the Khorne battlemat and the graveyard one was alright, but being a Sylvaneth player, it wasn’t the right one for me. This one is amazing and it fits perfectly my army, so I am looking forward to getting.

My only fear is whether it’s a real mat or a cardboard piece of terrain like the Moonbase terrain that they released for W40k. If it is a real mat, it’s a must buy for me.

I do not really mind if the scenery is too generic, you can always add new pieces of scenery later.

    • Chris Hilliard

They already have an Ophidian Arch and Arcane Ruins that are very distinctive, having some pieces to go between is nice.

    • Matthew Pomeroy

hopefully its not one of those almost paper mats either. I thought the khorne mat was awful and the graveyard…ok. more generic in base is better IMO.
