GW: Rumor Engine “Chainmail Skirt”

Games Workshop has a new rumor engine and we’re going to need all the armor experts for this one.

Ready for your weekly look at the FUTURE ITSELF?

This week’s entry:

My first inclination is that this is a part of a chaos kit. Why? Because it reminds me of the Chaos Lord on a Manticore:

Or the Chainmail the Chaos Warriors have:

They have the right style of Chainmail, plus their cloaks are torn, but not shredded, just like the one Rumor Engine. Or maybe the cloth parts ARE more ripped up and it’s actually an Undead model:

But something is bugging me about the text – why did GW say “FUTURE ITSELF” – are they just being cheeky or is that a clue?

What’s your best guess Internet Detectives? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Gorsameth

    I’m guessing AoS undead.
Compare it to the new Malign Portents undead character.
    Bottom layer is ghost ‘stuff’
    On top is chainmail.
Top layer is an old ragged cloak.

  • Ryan Miller

    The Emperor returns!

  • Tshiva keln

Suppose death is in the future of all of us…

  • SilentPony
    • Shadowstrife

But why would they rumor engine a kit that’s plastered all over GW’s main page already?

Isn’t the point of the engine to hype/preview stuff months away? Curiouser and curiouser.

      • m3g4tr0n

It’s BoLS. Unless it’s a post pushing for female Primarchs, they’re always late to the game.

        • Kabal1te

Except GW put this on their site today.

    • Kabal1te

Pretty sure it is not keldreck. Some careful zooming in shows you can’t quite match him up to this image. It may be something similar to him, or it may be something else all together. The problem with these rumor engines. It’s impossible to tell anything in any definitive way.

      • Shadowstrife

Okay, that answers it thanks for the detective work. This is good news then, means more death models. We hope.

    • It’s not exactly that model, it looks different. But most likely some very close thing.

  • CloakingDonkey

It could be Chaos, Ironjawz or Undead but I’m gonna say it’s the new Undead faction purely based on how it’s painted. The upper cloak is almost drybrushed. The studio Orcs and Chaos are not usually this dirty visually. MORE GHOSTS? :O

    A look into the future?
Sounds like one of the malin portents

  • Chris

    It’s a space marine.

  • Hagwert

Creepy vampire lady in tattered dress and chain mail ?

  • Jared van Kell

My guess is that this is from either a Chaos or Death hero. I don’t know why but I think we will be getting a Slaves to Darkness battletome after Daughters of Khaine.

  • Fraser1191

Another rumor that could be anything from Aos orks to chaos space marines.
I thought the idea of rumors was to get people excited.
    This is effectively nothing

  • Rafał Pytlak

    New Abbadon

  • piglette

    Jockstrap of Khorne.

  • Koldan

Highly unlikely, as this would conflict with a model range, which is still quite good, but i like the following idea.

Malerion lost his memory and is now regaining more and more of his memory, what if his followers are the same? Carrying with them bits and pieces from their old life in the world that was, in the hope that it brings back more of their lost memories.

The Tenebrael Shard, the assasin from the silver tower, has some shreds of clothes tied to his belt, the rests of an assasin cloak maybe? He is wearing a crown, that would perfectly fit a priestess at a temple of khaine, where an assassin may have grown up.

This could be parts of the armor of a former dreadlord or drakespawn knight put on his new mount.

  • Christie Bryden

it looked a little tattered so hopefully death.

  • MechBattler

Let’s face the truth people. Chainmail and a fabric could describe models in literally half the armies in 40k and Fantasy. It could be Space Marines, anything Imperium really, Chaos Marines, Chaos Daemons, Dark Eldar, Orks, Dwarves, Beastmen, Skaven, Tomb Kings, Orruks, etc, etc.
“Chainmail Skirt” does not give us a short list of suspects in any way.

    • Thedinosaur

I was about to say this!

  • Karl Andre

Its for the New Re-Release of Dark Future that old GW Post Apocalyptic Car and Miniatures game like Mad Max

  • Mathew G. Smith

    Priest of Sigmar?

  • eMtoN

I’d say it’s Vect’s cape but as we all know GW secretly wishes DE would just die it’s actually just some other generic marine of one flavor or another.

    • Vanders

I don’t think chainmail really fits Vect.

  • J Mad

AoS Beastmen, or Beastmen for Necromunda

  • Talos2

    Plastic thunderhawk

  • Chet Atkinson

Most likely some undead wotnot now that death is taking over. Either that or the skirt of a sister of battle, torn getting into a plastic thunderhawk by a squat
