The Dark Eldar are up next from Games Workshop – a new codex means a whole week of previews. Let’s get to raiding!

Kabals, Wych Cults, and Haemonculus Covens are getting a plethora of new powers in the new Drukhari Codex. Each one will have unique warlord traits, faction rules, artefacts and stratagems. Things are going to change at the Detachment level, too. Thankfully, Games Workshop is here to explain it all.

“…constructing a Drukhari army is a little different from before. If you want to do a mixed force, it’s easier than ever, and you’ll be able to utilise Drukhari Stratagems (which are incredibly devious and will be covered in more detail in the coming days). If you’d rather commit yourself entirely to one element of the Dark Kin’s forces, however, you’ll find some interesting new options available to you.”

Bonus Command Points for multiple Drukhari Patrol Detachments? Oh my. Firstly, that’s going to mess with tournaments that limit your detachments. Secondly, this is the first time we’ve seen GW give an army a bonus for running that many extra detachments. I can’t wait to see what else this army does based on how it’s construction rules work now. On the other hand, it sounds like you’re going to want all those extra Command Points for your stratagems.

Alliance of Agony could have a HUGE impact – but that is all reliant on the Warlord Traits. Also, based on the stratagem, there is no reason you can’t have multiples of the same Warlord Trait. This could be really powerful or really lackluster as it all depends on the options they have. If they are all “Self-Buff” traits, then they will only make the characters better. But if they are force multiplier type traits, it could be very scary to see what they can do.

The Drukhari are poised to be a truly unique army. Made of multiple factions that work together to become something greater, it’s going to be interesting to see how they pan out. From the looks of things so far, they are going to be well equipped to have a diversity that will leave your opponent’s head spinning. We’ll know more as GW gives us previews all this week – stay tuned!

Three Warlords, One Army? Sounds like something the Dark Eldar would be into.
