40K Animations Redux – This Time It’s Video Games
From fan-made animations to cut-scenes for video games, 40K has some truly astounding cinematics out there. Today we visit the professional side of things and take a look at 40K movies that were officially licensed.
Say what you will about 40K video games these days, they have some utterly gorgeous animations accompanying them. And sometimes the game is actually quite good! But we’re not here to talk about gameplay–today we’re just looking at animations. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at some of our favorite animated cut scenes from video games, etc.
Inquisitor Martyr
Let’s start off with the one that isn’t technically out yet. Recently delayed–we still have a look at what their opening cinematic is like. The spaceships look glorious, they have a sense of scale or weight to them.
THQ’s Space Marine
Next up we have a classic–Space Marine, developed by THQ. Everyone’s favorite 40K fight ’em up, Space Marine has an enduring place with fans and devs alike. Super fun to play, and just as fun to relive via cutscenes and brief snippets of gameplay to string you from one cutscene to the next.
Dawn of War III
Say what you will about the game itself. It had some memorable moments and utterly stunning opening cinematics. Just look at thie cinematics featured here (so beautiful).
Spacehulk: Death Wing
This one tells a slightly larger story through investigating a derelict ship and possibly getting eaten by Tyranids. It really brings to life the quiet tension of roaming through the hall, wondering what’s behind every corner.
Battlefleet Gothic Armada
And finally we have this one from Battlefleet Gothic, which invites players into a world of space ships and sci-fi space help.
Well there you have it folks. Another look at some of the greats as far as 40K is concerned.
