Alongside the big FAQ, which updates the game to 1.2, two other FAQs dropped that bring the Drukhari, Necron, and T’au Codexes to 1.0 officially. Hidden in the wake of nerfs and buffs the world over, here’s what changed for these three filthy Xenos.

The FAQs are coming, the FAQs are coming–and while the Big FAQ has brought in a lot of major changes to the game (possibly, your mileage may vary), the individual FAQs for the Necron, Drukhari, and T’au Codices bring some much needed clarification to their respective armies. So let’s dive in and take a look.

First up we have the T’au Codex and its changes:

First up a much needed clarification for the Dal’yth Sept trait. Now you can benefit from your Sept trait even if you don’t go first on the first turn. Previously you could not. Speaking of dumb things that you can’t do anymore, Focused Fire is now back where it ought to be:

Now only your attacks that target the Focus Fired unit benefit from the +1 wound, which is where it ought to be. That cuts down on some of the technicalities and mildly cheesy things you could do (though the T’au do need all the help they can get these days).

Speaking of things that ar elike the T’au but better in every single way possible, the Necrons have some clarifications as well.

This not only means you can take one of those special characters as your Warlord and have their trait actually benefit the army they are the Warlord of (which before you couldn’t) but it means that they also give their Warlord trait buffs to units like Triarch Stalkers or others that lack the <DYNASTY> keyword. So a little more bang for your buck.

And let’s not forget the Drukhari, who have just a few minor changes in the grand scheme of things. And one clarification that’s a little bit of a bummer.

This means you can only have a maximum of 3 Warlords per Drukhari army, instead of going all in on small detachments and going for 6. Additionally Ossefactors only melt one extra model’s bones:

And then here’s the one that’s kind of a bummer. It makes sense–after all tournaments are their own specially balanced things. Some are designed to have no limits or larger limits on detachments–but most of the big ones are capped at 3, which means you won’t necessarily see the “multiple scattered bands of raiders” and instead you’ll see a bunch of battalions and brigades, like everyone else.

And that’s the Xenos FAQs.

Be sure and stay tuned for more news when these inevitably get updated again!
