It’s April 1st, and we all know what that means–it’s time to take a look at the best new products from around the web. Some of these products sound amazing, some sound questionably useful, either way, let’s take a look at all the products set for an April 1st Release.

April 1st is my favorite time of year. You get to see some really creative and innovative ideas from companies around the web. Whether it’s new modes coming to your favorite games, or cool new products that seem a little bizarre, or even funny, it’s always nice to see this kind of creativity on display. It’s the kind of thing that makes you wonder: “What Will They Think Of Next!” So with that in mind, let’s take a look at all of these things–and I hope we’ll be seeing them on shelves soon! I have been burned by April 1st before, but these all seem pretty “legit” as they say.

Games Workshop

Games Workshop is offering a delicious new alternative to their lineup. Chocolate miniatures! Which at first that sounds kind of cool–you can literally just eat your army when you lose a model, but it makes me think that kind of thing might be real expensive in the long run.

Especially if you’re playing the game under hot lights or in a tournament setting–if your minis melt, what will you do? Plastic seems like a much better way to go. I’m sorry GW, but this chocolate stuff, as delicious as it sounds, is just going to have to get a pass from me.

Z-Man Games

Pandademic seems like an interesting twist on the classic Pandemic game. Only instead of fighting to save the world from a disease, you’re trying to save the Pandas of the world. Which I guess you’d also be doing in Pandemic, though that does seem to be very human-focused.

Z-Man Games, I wanna say good on you for this one. Way to make your game more inclusive. Makes me think we’ll see some kind of Panda-saving mechanics come into play. Things like having to make sure their habitat gets restored as well as trying to find ones that actually want to breed in or out of captivity. Either way, this cute and cuddly game gets a big old green light and I hope we have a chance to feature it on our stream real soon.

Holy moly! Spaceballs…now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a very long time, to paraphrase that one guy in the movie that Spaceballs is based on. This looks pretty cool–there’s the Eagle V, which looks a lot like a Winnebago. And apparently they’re going to feature the Spaceballs 1, which should be a pretty powerful ship to field. After all, it can transform into a Mega-Maid and is capable of sucking the atmosphere out of a planet in very little time. That’s the kind of destructive firepower that can give the “of Glory” games a real kick in the pants. Can’t wait to see what elements they bring from “Spaceball: The Animated Series.” I didn’t even know that existed, but apparently it does! Neat!

Space Cowboys

Okay now this one seems just obvious. I mean as soon as you saw Cities of Splendor, it was pretty much impossible not to think: “Sure this is great, but it would be much better if it were Kitties of Splendor and instead of cities it were cats, hey did I leave my iron on I don’t think I did I should probably figure out what I want to order for lunch.”

And now it’s like Space Cowboys have read our collective thoughts (which is pretty scary, but if true, we should also be seeing a Transformers vs. Pacific Rim Jaegers game pretty soon–or one where you’re at school only everyone is transformed into your 5th Grade English teacher and you didn’t study for the test and are naked) and brought us the game straight from the world of imagination. I’ve gotta say W-O-W to this one!

Think Geek

Think Geek is renowned for releasing products on April 1st. If you recall, a few years ago, they released a Tauntaun sleeping bag with a lightsaber zipper! And you thought they smelled bad on the outside.

I have to say though, having heard this one–I don’t think that seems like a very pleasant way to wake up. It’s awfully loud and not a lot of people will be into that. I know the Rick and Morty “fandom” can be pretty vocal–but I’m sorry gang, I just think this one is for the birds!

Lego

This is a tool we’ve needed for a long time. I don’t know how it will sort the bricks by color–but if that’s the case, man, at last my bedroom will be a safe place to walk again. I won’t have to worry about stepping on legos in the middle of the night when I get up from my night terrors to fix a cheese and marmalade sandwich. Anyway, I hope that all of these products will be available soon. I think I could use most of these in my life–and I hope you can too. Thank you so much and enjoy the rest of your April 1st friends.
