Games Workshop had to post-pone the opening of the Warhammer Citadel. That’s the bad news. Fortunately, they decided to host a Warhammer Weekend instead – and it sounds like a blast!

You read that right, the Warhammer Citadel opening has been delayed. It’s a disappointment and that’s never fun. Games Workshop knows that folks had plans to attend – you bought tickets, flights, maybe rented a car and all that jazz – so what to do? Well DON’T CANCEL just yet…GW has a back-up and it’s pretty awesome.

What do you do when you can’t open a store on the day you wanted?

You throw an awesome party, that’s what!

We’ve scouted the local area and secured a great space in the local DFW Doubletree hotel.

Everything we were planning to run at our Grand Opening weekend, will now be there, and more!

Not content to just move our celebration, we’ve expanded it to a full-on mini-convention including gaming, shops and free tournaments – one for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and one for Warhammer 40,000.

That’s right folks, Games Workshop has basically swapped the venue and is going full convention mode! All the same stuff you were hoping to do at the Warhammer Citadel will still be happening, but with two tournaments going on at the same time.

If you were going to attend, you need to read the full post here. If you want to play in one of the tournaments (one for Warhammer 40K, one for Warhammer AoS) then you need to head over to the Warhammer Citadel Facebook Page and check out the events section.

Am I bummed about the Warhammer Citadel delaying the opening? Yes. Am I okay with the alternative location? HECK YA! Score one for GW on this one. Oh and if you had travel plans to come and this messed with them you really should check out that article because they have a help line setup for you. Seriously, well played GW.
