Fantasy Flight Games expands on the potential for ‘Unlimited Power’ in your games of Star Wars: Force and Destiny. Today we learn about ‘The Living Force’ and what that means for both the Light and the Dark.

‘Unlimited Power’ is the new Sourcebook for Mystics coming to enhance your games of Star Wars: Force and Destiny. We’ve talked a bit about the basics of it before. We’ve also covered the three new races that will be introduced into the game. This time we delve into some of the new mechanics for GMs and Players that will be introduced into the game.

“While Mystics are not alone in their attunement to the will of the Force, Mystic characters may benefit from a more prominent use of the Force as a narrative element than, say, a Guardian. Mystics are characters who most frequently employ the Force in mysterious ways, and will often take the foreground when the campaign features such elements. Unlimited Power details how to incorporate visions, the will of the Force, and the concept of the Force as “magic” into your campaign.”

There are essentially 3 big things this book adds to the toolkit and those revolve around the idea that the Force is a Living Thing and it flows throughout the campaign. Players can tap into the Force in different ways and GMs can use it as well. The first concept is the introduction of Visions.

Think of Luke in Empire Strikes back – his visions of seeing his friends in danger led him to face down Vader in Cloud City. And while that didn’t pan out quite how he imagined, those visions drove the plot forward. This concept is explored in more detail in the book and can help your Mystic players not only drive the story but can also help the GM communicate with the characters in a unique way.

Alchemy Crafting is also a part of this source book. This concept of “imbuing elixirs, potions, and items with seemingly arcane power” is a great way to incorporate new mystical elements to your game. After-all, to the Alchemically inclined, making a strange brew is no different than Lightsaber construction for a Jedi.

The temptation to fall to the Dark Side of the Force is always there. This is another concept that ‘Unlimited Power’ deals with in detail. There are tips on how to incorporate their fall into your campaign as well as what to do with fallen characters. There are suggestions on how to resolve those conflicts between characters who might be on opposing sides without them “spilling over into hard feelings between players.”

The dissolution of the Jedi Order has reopened alternative paths of communing with the Force; no longer bound by strict rules and regulations, the Mystic interacts with the Force in ways that might seem foreign to the Jedi of old. Some have merged their politics with the Force while others imbue artifacts with the power of the Living Force through alchemy. Unlimited Power is a new sourcebook for Mystic characters in the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game, expanding their options from the core rulebook by introducing three new specializations, new species, new equipment, and more.

The path of a Mystic is one of attunement with the Force; unlock your Mystic’s full potential and discover Unlimited Power in this new sourcebook.
