Step into the City of Splendor later today. The Stream of Many Eyes  begins in a few scant hours, but for now–take a glimpse at what the City of Splendor looks like in our world as we get the first few previews of the SoME set.

Waterdeep is the setting and the theme of Dungeons and Dragons’ next big storyline. It feels like this one is an Urban-centered adventure, and the popular rumormill has it centering around investigations as well as combat, so there will likely be a lot to dig into when that comes out. This is pretty ambitious, especially for an adventure described as the Da Vinci Code meets Gangs of New York. And how do we know it’s Waterdeep? Well we’re getting the first few glimpses from folk who are on their recreation right now. And also Greg Tito, WotC’s PR/Comms master, admitted as much.

You can see the Xanathar featured up there on the banner–Xanathar being of course the head of the Thieves’ Guild operating out of Skullport and criminal mastermind throughout the realms. There you’ll be able to find locations like a faithful recreation of the Yawning Portal (no word on whether or not the portal that opens up into a massive dungeon will be included), and talk to characters like Durnand, Mirt the Moneylender, and Elminster–no doubt fresh from his quest to save Volo in our world.

Here’s a look of B. Dave Walters (who if you’re not following, you should) on set and in person on Waterdeep with some of the streamers who’ll be making their appearance on the stream this weekend. And below you can see Waterdeep being transported via much more mundane means than you’d expect.

Tickets are on sale now for the event for folks who are interested in flying out to LA and buying tickets–but you can also follow along with the whole thing online. You will miss out on the chance to grab some unique Dungeons and Dragons merchandise.

The Stream of Many Eyes starts at 4 PM PT on Friday, June 1st, with a visual tour of the studio led by host Anna Prosser Robinson and a roundtable conversation with the D&D team on the new storyline and what makes it so exciting. Dungeons & Dragons will then present live D&D play sessions with Force Grey and Dice, Camera, Action!

On Saturday, June 2nd, the livestream kicks off at 10 AM PT with Sirens of the Realms. Saturday’s games will feature well-known D&D gaming group Girls, Guts, Glory as well newer groups Rivals of Waterdeep and Dark & Dicey, all previewing content from the new story. The entertainment will run all day, wrapping up at 7 PM PT.

Four groups will perform on Sunday, June 3rd, beginning at 11 AM PT and streaming until 8 PM PT. Games will include members of Critical Role, High Rollers, Force Grey and the entire cast of Dice, Camera, Action! performing together in costume for the first time.

Gourmet food trucks, a D&D pop-up store full of merch, and live performances from musicians, dancers and stunt-people will keep the atmosphere downright jovial before the scheduled tours begin. On the tour of the sets, you’ll get to interact with characters, authors and luminaries from some of the brands who work with Dungeons & Dragons.

At any rate, be sure to tune in to find out more about the upcoming storyline. That’s the part that I’m interested in–though I will say it is good to see how the community is coming along. D&D is growing, it’s getting more attention and more people day by day, which is interesting. We’re entering a second golden age for roleplaying games (and it’s hard to tell when you’re in one, so this is pretty cool), which bodes well for the hobby in general.

Tune in Later Today to see it all! In the meantime, happy adventuring!
