England’s largest and most improbable robbery is coming to the big screen with a stellar cast. Michael Caine returns to a life of crime with a crew of very talented, elderly gentlemen in King of Thieves

The robbery of the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company back in 2015 captured the attention of the public for a summer. £200 million worth of gems and jewelry were stolen, and has been called the largest heist in England’s legal history. It was pulled off by a bunch of experienced thieves that just happened to be elderly. I won’t go more into it because I don’t want to ruin the plot for those that aren’t familiar.

Jame March (The Red Riding trilogy) has teamed up with writer Joe Penhall (Mindhunter) to bring the story to the screen. It stars Michael Caine, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, and Tom Courtenay as proper scoundrels. I don’t think many of us need a trailer to convince us that we need to see it after reading that list, but here it is anyway.

It does have a bit of an Ocean’s 11 and Italian Job vibe to it, but a little levity isn’t a bad thing. It plays right into all of these brilliant actors’ strengths. Don’t forget that they’ve played crime bosses, gangsters, murderers, and spies as well as the occasional dotting old man or butler. This looks like it’ll be a fun watch. The story is interesting and the team is top notch.

King of Thieves hits theaters September 14th in the UK. US release date has not been set.
