If you’re a Warmachine or Hordes player, Lock and Load had some exciting reveals for you this weekend. Here’s a look at all the new units that’ll be accompanying the Fires of War expansion, with new Theme Forces, new War Engines, and more.

The Fires of War is the next wave of releases for Privateer Press. There’s a LOT to unpack from this one, so let’s cut right to the video and we’ll walk through it afterwards.

Fires of war means a whole wave of new models as each of the armies in the Iron Kingdoms (and Iron Kingdoms-adjacent) tries to innovate and adapt to an ever-changing battlefield with new and greater horrors. What does all that mean? Well for starters it means three new Theme Forces: the Tharn for the Circle Orboros, the Stone Immortals for the Skorne, and the Steelhead Mercenaries are all getting some love with new solos, units, and more.

The curse of Ten Ills has been lifted, and the savage, brutal Tharn are coming back from their nigh-extinction to devour the flesh of all who oppose them. Crushing and killing and barbarianing it up with ferocity, these are powerful models who will break you. And they back up their ferocity with some powerful solos and support units.

And of course, that’s just one of the Theme Forces. Meanwhile the honored dead of Skorne are given a stone form that entombs their spirits and lets them fight on well past their lives, going forth to battle with honor and brutality. There seems to be a lot of that going around.

And the Steelhead Mercenaries are getting beefed up with Arcanists and Siege Weapons. This on top of their heavy jacks.

And that’s just the theme forces. In the latter half of the video you’ll find new units for Menoth, new Bane Knights, Grymkin, Orboros, and more–here’s a look at the Order of the Wall initiates, little baby paladins on their way to somehow ignoring everything that the Protectorate of Menoth is doing, because they’re very good at pretending nothing is wrong. Handy skill to have I guess.

And all that’s just a taste of things to come. One thing’s for certain, this expansion has got us fired up and excited for more.
