Games Workshop has a sit down with the man responsible for bringing the Titans of Adeptus Titanicus to the tabletop. And here we thought they just used a shrink-ray on the Warlord, Reaver and Warhound!

Adeptus Titanicus is charging toward the tabletop with a brand new scale of warfare. Games Workshop’s designers has a tough challenge to overcome – how do you get the look and scale right and still make the game feel “big” and showcase the “weight” of these Titans? Having seen these models in person at GenCon 2018, I think it’s safe to say mission accomplished.

Today, Warhammer Community sat down with Andy and Chris from the team that worked on the game to talk about that process, the challenges and the big wins in creating these kits:

In the video, Chris and Andy also hint at a few things to come and how they were planning ahead for what is coming down the line. One thing they mentioned was “other Knights and things…” on the way. I wonder what that could be? Knight variants? Other creatures/Titan models? Who knows, besides them of course – the rest of us will have to wait to find out.

One of the big challenges of the line was that GW had originally wanted to do the line in resin and have Forge World cast everything. However, I think the fan response was so overwhelming that they decided to rejigger the production to plastic. This is probably why we saw a delay – but I think the end results are going to be worth it.

Also, Chris mentioned one thing that I think Hobbyists will really, REALLY appreciate in the design of the Titans. There are more Titan Weapons coming and to help keep your Titan’s options open Chris had this to say:

“We’ve left the kits open so that we can produce further weapons in-line and we’ve included positions on the models where you can include magnets…”

YES! That’s right – Games Workshop understands that folks will want to swap weapons out and planned for that. I just want to say thanks because these models are an investment and being able to hot-swap those weapon options is just fantastic. What size magnets? 5mm x 1mm discs. I have a feeling we might see a run on those magnets this weekend.

Pics Or It Didn’t Happen

In the video, GW also showed off more than just the Warlord – we get some cool shots of the Reaver and the Warhound as well:

Reaver Titan

The Reaver was described as sort of an “every-man” Titan. It’s probably going to be your Main Battle Titan and I’d expect to see quite a few of these on the tabletop once they come out. An interesting side note about this model is that it was orginially sculpted by hand – which meant that Chris had to physically measure it and “redo” the sculpt in CAD so they could make a digital file. I think he did an amazing job!

Warhound Titan

The Warhound might be the most widely used and available Titan currently on the tabletop. It’s the most affordable of these Titans from Forge World and gamers around the world can recognize it’s distinct look. Chris said that this model looks really impressive on the tabletop hunched and stalking around the buildings.

The Warlord Titan Sprues

Not to be outdone, Warhammer Community also showed off the 3 new sprues for the Warlord:

Note that the weapon sprue is seperate and different than the main body sprues. That just reinforces the idea that GW is going to release more weapon options for the Warlord at a later date – and we can’t wait!

Adeptus Titanicus is launching for Pre-Order this weekend – are you ready for the return of the Titans?
