The Hallmark channel is showing over 20 different sappy TV movies this year, as usual. If that’s not your bag, this holiday season brings some different titles to the big and small screen – one with Kurt Russel with a coiffed beard and another with singing zombies.

Netflix has a Chris Columbus produced tale starring Kurt Russel as a Santa that’s action ready, and on a mission to save Christmas. Russel brings a hip version of St. Nick while flying in a car and sleigh, as well as singing with jazz band and using his comedic chops while keeping his elves in line. It looks like a fun movie for families, and Russel fans that are young at heart.

The Christmas Chronicles drops on Netflix November 22nd.

And now for something not family friendly, even though some of the genres it fits into – teen romance comedy musical – sound like they should. Santa isn’t visiting this small town this Christmas season, but an outbreak of the undead are. In this genre-mashing holiday movie Anna (Elle Hunt) and her friends have to fight for survival while singing their hearts out. This new international trailer brings on the gore and the musical numbers.

Anna and the Apocalypse dances into theaters November 30th.
