Goatboy here again and you know I love 6 model armies.  There is something about playing a ton of big monsters/robots that just gets my heart pumping. This one has a surprise!

I think it all has to do with using big models and trying to get the most bang for your buck with such a big target model.  Plus I like my turns taking 5-10 minutes as I shift a big piece of plastic and make sounds like the train is coming to smash your toys aside.  I won’t lie; I got the list idea this time from a random picture off of Facebook.  A FB Friend was at an event and played what I think is this army.  It sounded like he beat it – which I expected cuz of those dirty space Elf tricks and not falling into the whole – play dumb so my axe wielding guy can smash you.  But enough about that – let’s go into the list.

6 Bad Boys of the Apocalypse

First of all – it is a true Bash Bros list just like I was going to talk about last week.  Instead of doing the smart thing and adding some Tzaangos plus Ahriman and friends to the mix – I just went with bigger monsters.  You could call them Distraction Carnifexes.  It also doesn’t help I have this list pretty much ready to go right now.  It isn’t fun on Goatboy paint mode but it will do.  I think you could drop the one Bloodthirster for more Lord of Changes and create this weird assault mess but that would mean I would need to build my other Lord of Change.  I ain’t got time for that with work, kids, and commissions.  Anyway onto to the display of math.

Goatboy’s Super Bad Bash Bros – Aka 6 Model Shuffle – Aka Keep my Back from Hurting

Daemon Supreme Command
HQ: Lord of Change – Warlord – Incorporeal Form – 320pts
HQ: Lord of Change – Relic – Impossible Robe – 320pts
HQ: Bloodthirster of Insenate Rage – Relic – Armor of Scorn – 340pts (-1 CP)
HQ: The Changling – 100pts (not sure just cuz he can keep the LoC alive – might drop for who knows what else)

Super Heavy Aux – Deathguard
LoW: Mortarion – 470pts

Super Heavy Aux – Thousand Sons
LoW: Magnus – 445pts

Total – 1995pts – 3CP

Tactics

Now this list is a whole lot of dumb mixed together.  It brings everything I love to the table top.  Big a$$ monsters, lots of Magic Missiles, and everything is currently painted (have a counts as Morty – but got one in a box for myself – and one to do for a client… it never ends).  The plan is I got enough bodies and wounds to be a problem.  The 2CP cover stratagem can protect most things if I need too – with Morty, Magnus, and the Thirster getting a 2+ armor save while the 2 LoC are either sitting at 3++ or take 1 less wound from guns.  The Changling can help too with a 6+ FNP to hand out.  If I get to go first Morty is thrown out like a Grenade with Morty going for +1 Toughness and -1 to Hit.  Magnus gets a -1 to hit as well and a +1 to his Inv save.  From there we got a plethora of Smites with pluses to cast and Gaze of Fate hanging around.

I also thought about trying to get Fateweaver in on it as he gains some extra Command points if he is the Warlord.   His Warlord trait is pretty bad so most likely he is not worth it.  If I didn’t run the changling I could look at some other options.  Heck if I didn’t want to run the Blood Thirster I could go with the super Axe Khorne Daemon Prince plus whatever else I could think about.  There are a lot of little things I could do to make it more interesting but this list feels so pure in its rampage potential that I just don’t want to mess with it.  I hope to try it out sometime soon once the kids Birthdays and random other family things slow down.

Second Verse – Kinda Like the First

Now as I finished writing this I thought of a Version of the above one that is probably better (and I still have painted).  It builds the Daemon part into a Battalion as while the army doesn’t need the CP to function – it does help it with some much needed Rerolls from time to time.

Version 2.1 – aka I got Troops Now so I can hold Objectives!

Daemon Battalion
HQ: Lord of Change – Warlord – Incorporeal Form – 320pts
HQ: Lord of Change, Baleful Sword – Relic – Impossible Robe – 330pts
HQ: Bloodthirster of Insenate Rage – Relic – Armor of Scorn – 340pts (-1 CP)
Troops: Brimstone Horrors X 10 – 30pts
Troops: Brimstone Horrors X 10 – 30pts
Troops: Brimstone Horrors X 10 – 30pts

Super Heavy Aux – Deathguard
LoW: Mortarion – 470pts

Super Heavy Aux – Thousand Sons
LoW: Magnus – 445pts

Sitting at 1995 points and 7 Command points.

Next week I might look at some other Knight builds.  I think both the Chaos and Imperial Versions have some play.  It really depends on how crazy the Chapter Approved changes the Dominos class chassis.  If the Chaos ones stay cheaper then we could see some builds with that and either some Death Guard hammers (terminators don’t suck) or some hidden Smite bombs covered by plethora of Plague Bearers.  Will see what my brain works on as I try to make it through my work week.
