Tidal Blades- Heroes of the Reef by Druid City Games

First on today’s list is Tidal Blades, a worker placement and dice management game set in a tropical high fantasy water world. Each player controls a fledgling hero that has entered the prestigious tournament that determines the next batch of recruits that will be inducted into the Tidal Blades, an elite group of champions tasked with defending the realm from monsters. Visit islands to gather resources so you can attempt challenges, customize your character, and upgrade your dice in preparation for battles against invading monsters to prove your worth to the Tidal Blades. You can get a copy of the Deluxe Edition, with all stretch goals, for $89.

Barrage by Cranio Creations

Barrage is a complex engine-building and tycoon management game set in an alternate 1920s where the world’s energy supplies have been devastated by The Great War. Nikola Tesla, with the help of four brilliant investors, hopes to harness the power of water to generate an unlimited supply of electricity to ease the world’s insatiable consumption of fossil fuels. Build a complex network of hydroelectric dams to generate power and fulfill private energy contracts. Use your earnings to research new technologies and take on increasingly demanding contracts as the world’s energy needs gradually shift to hydroelectric power. You can get the core box, expansion, and a Kickstarter exclusive 3D map for $114.

Volfyirion by Tabula Games

Volfyirion is a fast and compact competitive deck-building game for two players. Lead your nation to war against your rival by building up your defenses, recruiting soldiers, and casting elaborate spells. Beware, however, because your rival isn’t the only enemy you’ll need to watch out for. The dragon Volfyirion has created a lair nearby, and will lay siege to both nations if left unchecked. Gain the upper hand by either slaying the dragon, or binding it to your will. You can get a no-frills version of the game for as little as $10, or upgrade your tiny wooden dragon token to a 120mm plastic miniature for $29.

Wild Assent by Lazy Squire Games

Wild Assent is a miniatures-based board game that offers two drastically different game modes. The co-op mode allows players to form a party of trappers that venture out into the wilds in search of monsters to capture. Maintain your camp to purchase upgrades and other support, and sell the beasts you trap to wealthy collectors to fund future expeditions. In the competitive mode, players create a team and fight to the death in the arena. Each team consists of a customizable champion and monsters that have been trained for combat. Pledges start at $99 for the core game.

Cloudspire by Chip Theory Games

Finally, we come to Cloudspire, a competitive MOBA board game for up to 4 players. Each player controls a unique faction in a world of floating islands powered by a mysterious energy called The Source. Players fight for control of Source nodes by raising armies of minions and purchasing upgrades and abilities from the marketplace. Players can augment their forces with powerful heroes that can freely roam around the game board. Each faction has a unique, upgradeable fortress as well that they’ll need to defend while they launch their attacks. Pledges start at $100.
