It’s a 40K Extravaganza on Tabletop Spotlight this week. Today we’ve got a look at the new Vigilus boxed set, Wake the Dead, as well as the new Kill Teams and Terrain.
That’s right friends, we’re going through all the big 40K releases on Tabletop Spotlight today. Wake the Dead brings the Craftworld Aeldari and Ultramarines to the embattled world, while the Exalted Scythe and Advance Team Starpulse bring the Necron and T’au to Kill Team, and both include pieces of the Wall of Martyrs terrain set (which is also available now).
Wake the Dead is the next installment of the Battle for Vigilus, which advances the narrative of the the Battle for Vigilus. The Aeldari have come to the embattled planet to exact revenge for the slaughter of their kin by an overeager Planetary governor who wouldn’t listen to them. The Ultramarines arrived to reinforce Vigilus, and have been drawn into conflict with the Aeldari, attempting to protect the planetary government, which the Aeldari are here to try and destroy in a scornful quest for vengeance. This needless warfare will surely prove to weaken Vigilus, and, my personal theory is this is all somehow engineered by Tzeentch, who used a Chaos cult (which is why the Aeldari originally were on Vigilus, to kill a Chaos-tainted demagogue) as bait to ultimately make Vigilus ripe for the pickings.
The Exalted Scythe are about efficiency. They can have a unit shoot twice, they can seize control of an enemy and have them shoot their colleagues, and among other things, come back to life if you would have otherwise destroyed them. The Necron Warriors and Immortals of the Exalted Scythe are some of the more resilient Kill Teams out there.
The Advance Team Starpulse, on the other hand is all about teamwork and coordination. The T’au have advanced technology and function best when everything they have is working as one to serve the Greater Good. So you’ll have the ability to have hunters working in Tandem to activate when readied. You’ll have to lay claim to firing arcs, and it requires a more patient style of play–but your firepower can win you games if you’re able to leverage it.
Check out these and the new Commanders Kill Team set, coming soon from GW!
