Warhammer Underworlds: New Bans And New App
Warhammer Underworlds is showing off its competitive card gaming roots by getting a new round of bans, restrictions, and a deck builder app.
Next thing you know, we’ll be seeing new Warhammer Underworlds guides for Constructed, popular players hopping on YouTube to talk about Drafting, and a whole host of podcasts that talk about broken combos of ages past. But for now, Warhammer Underworlds is just getting an update to keep its rules tight and competitive. And they’re doing that the way any good game does–with a list of cards restricted in use, and cards banned outright to help keep the meta from being dominated by one thing or another. Let’s take a look.

Organised Play is at the heart of Warhammer Underworlds, and we’re committed to keeping it as awesome as possible.
As such, we’re introducing Banned and Restricted Lists for Warhammer Underworlds Organised Play. Written in conjunction with our playtesting team, this list is designed to keep games exciting, varied and fun, and to ensure that deck-building remains an interesting and rewarding part of the Underworlds experience.
To this end, we’re introducing a Restricted List to limit your selections when deck-building for Organised Play games.
ALL of these cards are legal for Organised Play, but you’ll be allowed no more than 5 cards from this list in any combination for your deck. All of these cards are universal, meaning no individual warband is disproportionately affected. This makes for more interesting decisions when building your next Grand Clash winner.

Alongside this is a Banned List of cards that are no longer permitted in Organised Play at all. We want to avoid banning cards wherever possible, but over the past year, we’ve had loads of feedback on three particular ploys that have been having a disproportionate impact on the game.
As such, we’re creating a Banned List, these are the first three inductees, meaning they cannot be included in your deck for any official Warhammer Underworlds Organised Play event. We think that taking these cards out of the game will lead to more interesting and challenging games for all players, as well as a more diverse range of decks.
It’s worth noting that the banned list, right now, is just three cards, so they really mean it when they say they don’t want to ban anything. You can find the full writeup on banned and restricted cards here.
And you can also try out the new Deckbuilder App, which is kind of amazing since they took inspiration from and collaborated with the creator of UDeck, a free online builder made by one of their fans. Now it has a new version and a permanent home on the Warhammer Underworlds website.
