Holy cow–so much is coming out next weekend. There’s pre-orders for all the big 40K stuff: Vigilus Defiant, Chapter Approved, NuMarneus and Cohort. Also the 40K Monopoly is getting officially released. Carnage everywhere, check it out.

It’s the end of the year, and Games Workshop has apparently been listening to a lot of Drowning Pool because next weekend it’s time to let the bodies hit the floor. Coming out next weekend are the big releases everyone’s been waiting for. Let’s dive in!

First up, let’s have a look at what’s going on over at the Vigilus, the embattled world that stands guard over the Nachmund Gauntlet, a rare stable route through the Cicatrix Maledictum to the Imperium Nihilus.

At the gateway between civilisation and madness, between primordial darkness and the sputtering light of the Astronomican, war is coming – and soon…

That’s where the incredible new Imperium Nihilus campaign book, Vigilus Defiant, comes in! It’s by far the most in-depth and visually striking campaign book we’ve released to date. This mighty 200-page tome tells the full story of the embattled sentinel world so far, before introducing the next chapter in the tale – namely the wholesale invasion of the planet by Haarken Worldclaimer, murderous Chaos Lord of the Black Legion and herald of the Warmaster himself. The huge background section features beautifully rendered campaign maps and force dispositions so you can witness the evolution of the war from its earliest outset to the latest state of play.

And of course along with the lore, you’ll get a ton of rules: Campaign Rules for Vigilus,

And if you want want to get involved in the action, the rules section enables you to do just that, with Vigilus campaign rules and no less than 12 narrative scenarios that help you refight some of the key battles in the story. There are also Battlezones, which add hazardous environmental challenges to your games, as well as rules that enable you to fight within specific locations on Vigilus.

Finally, there are new datasheets for Marneus Calgar, his Victrix Guard and Haarken Worldclaimer, followed by rules for narrative-driven Specialist Detachments that represent some of the battle formations fighting on Vigilus.

Then of course there’s Chapter Approved

Chapter Approved is the essential guide for gamers of all kinds – however you play, you’ll find something inside for you. New Missions and points profiles are set to shake up matched play, while for open play, deep character creation rules for custom champions and new Looted Wagon profiles reward your creativity. Narrative fans, meanwhile, can play through the Cities of Death missions or level up your units across campaigns with Battle Honours.

We haven’t even gotten into the new rules for The Eight, or the beta Codex: Adepta Sororitas – this year’s Chapter Approved is absolutely packed to the gills with great content.

And if that wasn’t enough for you–which let’s be honest, it wasn’t, there’s also 40K Monopoly coming out next weekend. Which is just the perfect game to gather your family around to play once the Yule Log has burned to a cinder and you’re wondering what the heck you’re going to do because you still have five more days of family to scrape through and there’s only so many times a “work emergency” can come up before they are forced to acknowledge that you’re just ducking out to the Taco Barn. Which is not a bad strategy, but it only goes so far before the social contract makes its terrible demands. Fortunately, GW has you covered.

Time to get aboard the hype train, it’ll be leaving the station all week.
